The Unutterable

That sounds like technical and stuff.

Breeders Mania
I'm camped out in front of Best Buy right now, dressed up as Kim Deal, been here since last night about 10, just want to make absolutely sure I get a copy of Mountain Battles. Crowd not as large as I expected, though.

Thrisis?
Is that what ELO is saying in Don't Bring Me Down?

Enon
Noel, any thoughts on Enon? They were somehow involved with Brainiac before tragedy struck, if I'm not mistaken?

My boss's kids are really into music, I made them a "dance party" CD and put "Oh! Brother" from "Wonderful and Frightening World…" on it in honor of their little brother, the youngest, and apparently they all love it. I just had to make pretty sure there were no F-bombs in the song.

Sickness
Josh, I just sort of assumed you were sick because of something you ate, that maybe we had a really awesome taste test thing to look forward to…

They may yet, though. I think on Bitter Tea and especially on Widow City they leaned a bit more towards possibly amazing pop. I'm thinking "Ex-Guru" and maybe even "The Old Hag is Sleeping" from Widow City. They sabotage them a bit so that they're not amazing straight-up pop (though I think both songs are pretty

Fiery Furnaces - Rehearsing My Choir
A) I think I'm the only person in the world who seriously, thoroughly loves "Rehearsing My Choir." It's like the Velvet Underground's "The Gift" on steroids and Red Bull.

Popless
I had a dream about this feature last night, or at least a dream in which this feature was somehow involved. Not sure if that's healthy.

The Fall
As my namey-thing suggests, I'm a huge fan. I have like 300+ Fall songs on my Ipod, and at this point I think I'm pretty much as complete as possible with actual albums. A few things…

Yeah, in the reviews of RET I've seen so many references to Face the Truth as "disappointing" and "lackluster" - I don't get it. I really don't remember this big critical rejection when it came out, but I could be mistaken. It's one of my favorite albums, which is a little "I don't know anybody who voted for Nixon" of

Janet Weiss
So when she came on board, did she have to go back and learn all the drums from the previous three albums? Or just certain songs that might be used for live performances? Like could Malkmus just randomly say during a show "Let's play 'The Hook'!" and Janet needs to be ready to go? Or are there just some

I was that white guy drinking beer.

Awesome
Great interview - saw them Friday night in DC and it was pretty awesome, though they didn't play as much "older" stuff as I was hoping - "Baby, C'mon" was the only one I picked up off of Face the Truth. In previous sets they had played "Jo Jo's Jacket" but not Friday night. I would love to have heard Janet

Seriously, if I win the lottery or what not I'm going to start some kind of publishing house so I can just make things I like into books.

Next week…
I'm hoping for The Fall and the Fiery Furnaces.

April Fools
So a possibly funny/neat/whatever AV Club April Fools joke would have been to have a Noel Murray byline on one of today's music reviews.

The only thing I know of Electric Six is that website that has the viking cats singing "Gay Bar."

What episode is that? Not itchy and scratchy land, is it?

Dwight Yoakam
Hey Noel: For what it's worth, the DY records I have and really like are "Just Lookin' For a Hit" (the one with "I Sang Dixie" on it); "This Time" (which was sort of his commercial breakthrough, as I recall); "Gone" (the opening track is pretty funny/clever); and "A Long Way Home" (lots of good breakup
