I'm not a Trek fan at all, but I think a big part of what put fans off of Abrams is that he's gone on record saying he doesn't love, or even really like Trek, which was pretty obvious from the way he immediately abandoned ship and jumped on the Star Wars bandwagon at the first opportunity.

That scene is not shot realistically at all, and is just as heightened and surreal as the rest of the film. You don't even really see all

I don't think you can expect it to happen anytime soon. I think vampires have been in since the 70's or so, though the recent Twilight inspired craze was a bit extreme. I think things are about back down to normal now.

The CW has never really been able to find a great pairing for VD though: Nikita was the only show they debuted in the slot to perform decently, and even that wasn't that great, even by CW standards. I'm guessing the logic here is that they're both very female skewing genre soaps, but I don't really see many teen girls

I've really tried to embrace that episode but I just can't. Everything about it seems to be trying it's damndest to be Lynchian but failing miserably (much like the end of episode 23). The hoky magic circle, the corny use of lightning and bad special effects, Bob suddenly turning into Jack Nicholson, the cheesy

Thanks, I appreciate it!

Yeah it's in this weird area where it's fundamentally unsatisfying for fans, and incomprehensible to anyone else. Yet there's still a lot to like about it and the visuals and sound design are astonishing. I've never quite decided how I feel about it, even after seeing it at least five times.

I did think the second or third time around that while this movie doesn't really work as a coherent narrative, or a followup to Twin Peaks, it is a great horror film. There is something really unnerving and emotional about it, and while a lot of it seems like random strangeness, it builds up a really haunting

If you saw this movie without having seen the series, you would get the impression that Bob was more of a metaphor or alternate identity of Leland's dark side rather than an actual spirit, which I think is what Lynch was going for before the series spelled things out in overly literal terms (man I hate episode 16).

This is legitimately one of his best roles ever: everything that comes out his mouth is hysterically funny.

Yeah, you may be right. The more I think about this the more perfect it sounds. Can we pitch a show to the CW next year?

So I just realized I'm going to a wedding the weekend these come out… oh well, I'm not a massive AD-head or anything, and I imagine Netflix will be crashing a lot that weekend. It's probably for the best. I am however, disappointed that these episodes will apparently make no sense if I start with the last one and go

Apparently The Vampire Diaries' viewers already skew surprisingly old.

Honestly, I think Nina Dobrev could do something with Scarlett O'Hara…

Honestly though, the way Julie Plec talks apparently all her good ideas came about in mind numbingly stupid ways as well. Never have I seen a show's show runner seem to grasp so little of what makes the show actually work.

Star Crossed is going to be teeeeerrible. While Teegarden was great for her role in FNL she's probably the cast member who would be least likely to be able to carry a show (or movie) on her own, up there with Minka Kelly. The whole thing smacks of a tv version of "I Am Number 42" which… just no. I guess there's always

Man that is atrocious. HIMYM is now the only thing even vaguely interesting on Mondays. Then again I tend to watch tv at least a day after it airs now so it doesn't really matter when shows are on anymore, I'm still catching up on Sunday shows on Mondays.

Presumably the same people who put together the mindblowingly terrible posters for Breaking Dawn Part 2.

I'm pretty baffled by why they brought that one back. There was really no audience and no buzz, and they already have Carrie Diaries and Hart of Dixie for their "zero ratings" shows… they really didn't need another. I guess they figured they need a few shows to save for midseason, and it's highly likely that Reign

Anybody remember when Community and Whitney were premiering in the fall on Fridays? Yeah, that definitely happened.
