There have been three two parters in every season of New Who except for this one (the last one was A Good Man Goes To War/Let's Kill Hitler). Moffat decided to axe them this season, presumably because of the bifurcated structure, and because the ratings always go down for the second half of the two part episodes.

Do you have a link @avclub-b6b8340f2234049af61e6b2b03c090b2:disqus ? I can't seem to find such a cast list on Google. Is Claire Holt on it?

Don't be so sure Rebekah will join this show @avclub-b9a25e422ba96f7572089a00b838c3f8:disqus : the end of the episode seemed to imply the opposite and I've heard rumors Claire Holt is becoming a regular on The Vampire Diaries. I think she's a better fit on that show anyway, and they can't jettison all their

@avclub-7cbdf9bce9a6ebda0988f7c45702c176:disqus Very good point. I really hope next year we get a crossover story arc between the two shows about a bunch of confused vampires who all just saw a bunch of their friends randomly die after Kol was killed finding out this deal with The Originals and being completely

@avclub-b3b938e989563d316a15a78c2e16b84f:disqus I certainly wasn't saying the characters are pure evil, and I can still sympathize with them and their motivations. But this is a far cry from Buffy and Angel, where we had a group of flawed, sometimes unlikable people struggling through their problems for the greater

Wasn't that supposed to be The Vampire Diaries?

@avclub-7aee1b75b527e215f31e20a5c4e7a768:disqus Oh yeah! I always forget he exists for some reason. Sorry Eric!

ABC Family will just never announce anything about Bunheads, leaving fans quietly desperate for them to announce another season, before suddenly renewing it in 2025, long after everyone has forgotten it ever existed.

@avclub-b3b938e989563d316a15a78c2e16b84f:disqus All of those people have been responsible for killing a whole lotta people. And they are friends with and constantly hang out with pretty sociopathic serial killers (at least in Stefan's case) and help them kill people pretty frequently. Matt drugged his best friend and

I think we should swap out Tobias and Rabin there…

We'll all just have to wait for Rabin's juicy tell all!

I really have to wonder how it had never occurred to Klaus that he could father children: that seems like a huge plothole. I mean he went to such great lengths to create a family of hybrids to keeping company, when he could just have some kids? He's presumably been having unprotected sex all this time, and never got

@avclub-cfe912f5cb3aa572bd1c9ae2a9b82207:disqus Not that I dislike the film coverage, I'm actually more into film than tv, but I'm not even sure what film coverage here is anymore with Tobias, Tasha and Rabin all gone. No more New Cult Canon or My Year of Flops? If this new site has all those writers on board I might

@avclub-78bdfa83009fb79fce8a73303b724ee2:disqus I'm pretty sure that VanDerWerff is the only non-freelancer writing for TV Club. Maybe they should just focus this site more on tv now and cut out the film stuff, and hire some of these folks full time.

This is pretty horrifying: basically all the non-TV Club people that this site is actually known for have jumped ship. I really have to wonder what's going on over there internally: have there been some major disagreements about the direction of the site or something? I guess I'll have to go visit this new site as

There really are no good guys on The Vampire Diaries anyway: Damon and Stefan aren't really much better people than Klaus, just younger and less powerful. The show has always been pretty much completely amoral: the "good guys" are whom we perceive as the main characters. I see no reason to think that The Originals

I love Angel season 4 as well! It's nowhere near the sheer brilliance of season 5, but there are so many cool elements to it: the Beast, the rain of fire, the massacre of the Wolfram and Hart employees, dark Wesley, the return of Angelus, Faith at her most badass, Willow coming to LA and flirting with Fred, Gina

I agree with you on the ending of Hannibal @avclub-bcd7b0ae82c362bdd7ee2856de0b9ae3:disqus : people make it sound like she just up and decides to join forces with Hannibal when they criticize that development, whereas he basically uses drugs and hypnosis to turn her into a companion for him.

I'm guessing it goes something like this: When writing the episodes Fuller and the writers either didn't give the episodes names or named them differently. Then very late in the stages of development, either someone on the creative team or some NBC bigwig came up with the 12 course dinner naming scheme and everyone

I'm pretty much with Carrie, I really enjoyed this one, though there were a few elements that bugged me so much I had to give a B+. My thoughts:
I'd forgotten how good Joseph Morgan can be in this role, though he gave us a taste of it back in the Christmas episode. He had some really strong emotional work here, and
