Would Nine Songs technically be hardcore porn?

Ridiculous on Netflix's part not to include Buffy, Angel, and Friday Night Lights in the Marathon category, those would be my top 3 choices. I went with Skins because I was ridiculously addicted to it for a while (would have gone with Lost by I watched it as it aired so I don't have firsthand marathoning experience

Granted, are there really that many people that like one of those movies and not the other?

Speaking of which, I'm surprised that Halle Berry movie The Call is from him, it looks completely terrible (and it's produced by the WWE for some reason which is a bad sign). This movie didn't really work for me, but Anderson definitely deserves better material than that. But who knows… maybe it will be better than it

I'm totally with you, I have no idea why people on this site are always raving about this movie. Anderson definitely showed promise and the lead performance is great, but the script is pretty lame and movie never manages to get really scary. The story feels really half formed as well, like they couldn't decide where

Even worse, this ad is ubiquitous on Hulu as well. I'm usually pretty out of the loop when it comes to commercials because I don't have cable but that one was instantly recognizable.

While I agree with Todd that this episode wasn't the show's best, it was weird that he singled out it's best scene as his biggest issue with it. That scene was much better acted than a number of major Hannah scenes this year (including her epiphany in episode 5), and I'm really not sure what his problem with it was.

Really I think Mad Men lost something after the third season. Not that the last two seasons haven't been very good and I love that the show was able to manage so many changes, but there seem to be much more pronounced shifts in episode to episode quality and the whole thing is kind of starting to feel aimless now.

I actually disagree: Breaking Bad is stylish but it gets a little too overheated in it's direction to the point that it starts to look more music videoish than cinematic, especially in season 5. Enlightened has a lighter and more graceful visual touch in my opinion.

I wonder if she's strapped for cash or something: she definitely sounded like she didn't want to do any regular roles on American tv after The X-files. Maybe she just had a lot of fun working on Hannibal and decided it wasn't so bad after all.

I don't think that project ever got any further than a bunch of fans saying it should totally happen. If another movie is ever made (which is unlikely, but so was I Want To Believe) I expect it would deal with the alien invasion apparently not having happened or being delayed and the reasons for that.

Hm, I like Rachael Taylor and Anderson is second only to maybe Laura Dern in my books. Hopefully this show will actually be good and worthy of the talent they've hired: network tv really knows how to waste talent and stick good actors in worthless roles.

Getting rid of Leo and Ellis is starting to look like a mistake since it makes McPhee by far the worst cast member. If this show somehow gets renewed (because NBC is incredibly desperate) we can only hope that the next retooling drops Karen entirely.

Is this their solution to the performances being less amazing than everyone describes? Just not show them? Because that would just be lazy and hacky… then again if we're going to get more numbers like that JFK thing maybe the show would be better off to skip them.

@avclub-2d0487ebdb05fa18fd3436e7d75d854c:disqus Yeah I don't have HBO either, and watch by less than legal means. I did just get the first season on Bluray though so at least I'm chipping in a little bit. I was gonna hold off but I decided to go on and get it in the off chance it might vaguely contribute towards HBO

That's exactly how I watched The Wire as well. It took me over two years and I managed to watch the entirety of several other shows in that time

I can tell you that the entirety of Enlightened is way, way better than every single one of these (only Breaking Bad season 4 is debatable as equal to it). Seriously, you guys need to check it/buy the season 1 DVD or Blu Ray now.

@avclub-de9878e9d33c60263a094abc94fab3f0:disqus Hmm, I love Mad Men but I can't say I've ever found it as emotionally devastating as this or FNL (or Six Feet Under, to risk sounding uncool). It's a great show, but it's always had a kind of cool detachment from the characters, much like The Sopranos had, that makes it

Someone asked you about Enlightened? That's pretty impressive, I don't think anyone I know is aware that it exists unless I mentioned it to them. I don't think I would know how to sell it either… I'd just be like "It's one of the best things ever…. everything is perfect. Watch it now". Todd's article does a pretty

I may not like all of these articles Todd, but this one was quite strong. I'd been thinking all day about how this is probably my favorite series since Twin Peaks (which was the first show I got into by watching all the episodes sequentially). There's just something really beautiful about it that speaks to me, and
