Are you Ryan Murphy by any chance?

Seriously, why are people trying to copy all these shows that are barely even hits? The networks are still desperate to copy Revenge, even as it's ratings lately are sliding further and further down.

Really, The Gates? There was just a show called that in 2010 about vampires living in a gated community… you've gotta wait a little to reuse that name for your show guys. Granted I doubt many people remember that show since it was canceled pretty quickly, but still.

And we all learned from "Chloe" that Atom Egoyan movie = automatically awesome. Look at the wonders it did for Amanda Seyfried's career!

Well remember, this is the 80's… I'm pretty sure kids still get grounded though.

That brain eating scene was a master class in an actor trying to get into the head of the character too much, rather than just playing it like it was as silly as it was. Her part was pretty thankless though: I feel like all of her big moments were in the first episode and she was completely wasted afterwards.

Interesting, I didn't realize it's performance was that strong. I guess all shows look like they're doing badly in the ratings these days. That's exciting, it's nice to not have to worry about a network show I watch getting canceled.

Yeah this is how I've always felt about it. I've seen the first five episodes now I think and still can't get into it. I'm thinking about catching up again since some of the developments sound kind of interesting and I like John Barrowman, but I'll have to see if I can muster the willpower. I really want it to be a

Yeah that bit with Adam Levine feels reeeeally disconnected from the rest of the series now, like someone thought of it early on and decided to shoehorn it in, even as the story moved in a different direction. The flashback at the beginning of this episode kind of felt like a retcon: it didn't actually contradict

Absolutely, it would be in my top five dramas of 2012 easily. I think it's a pretty darned good show and much better than I would have ever expected from Ryan Murphy, who tends to create fascinating and daring shows, and then completely trashes them after a handful of episodes. I enjoyed last season, but the writing

Honestly, I kind of doubt that this show will get a second season. The ratings aren't exactly amazing and it hasn't won any awards that I'm aware of. Then again ABC has trouble with this timeslot and the ratings got a boost last week so it's really too early to tell. I guess if they can keep them pretty stable it will

Still better old age makeup than Fringe… people seem to have just given up on that lately.

Yeah it was pretty spectacular when you looked back and realized that through all the craziness and insanity, Sister Jude and Lana actually had really amazing story arcs. Also it was pretty fantastic that they were able to take the typical AHS absurdist throwaway line of "Lana Banana" and have it resonate in several

I really love the soundtrack to this show, it's a ton of fun. I'm not a huge fan of 80's music but they use it really well, and its a refreshing change from all the other shows on CW using pretty inappropriate 30 second clips of popular songs throughout the episode. There actually seems to be some thought behind the

I like all his Scream movies quite a bit (not counting 3 which he didn't write) and The Faculty and I Know What You Did Last Summer are fun guilty pleasures. Dawson's Creek was also an enjoyable teen soap for a few years. Teaching Mrs. Tingle and Cursed are really really bad though. So not the greatest writer but he's

A bit of a stretch but it is certainly comparable with anything on those channels. There are so many brilliant things about that show, it sucks that the only thing people focus on is how it didn't wrap up all the loose ends.

@avclub-e3f5ab7f02122f95b801e13e2c586d6a:disqus I'm pretty sure that the most remembered/studied films of the last couple years will be Melancholia and Cloud Atlas… I'll at least feel pretty pleased with myself if that's the case.

Anyone else impressed by the directors they're getting for this? I recognized the directors of the first two episodes by name, and it looks like the ones they have coming up have also done some impressive work for other shows, and even done some film. Of course the look of the show is very streamlined and CW-y but I

That's not necessarily true though? A lot of the really famous older movies weren't big hits at the time. Some were of course, like Gone With the Wind or 2001, but movies like It's a Wonderful Life, Vertigo, Citizen Kane, Bringing Up Baby, etc. were largely ignored by audiences at the time in favor of stuff that's

I feel like there really needs to be a writer here who is willing to just slam on a show they're reviewing and tear it apart when it's bad. It kind of bugs me how everything is kind of graded on a curve, so the really terrible shows only get slightly lower grades on average than the great ones.
