I kind of hope this show goes super dark and she ends up dying of a drug overdose at the end of the season. Not because I hate Dorritt (she's actually a pretty interesting character), but because that would be kind of amazingly shocking. Season 2 would then be all about Carrie trying to deal with her death and

We should totally refer to that trio as Violet Beauregarde, Knives Chau, and Rosie Larsen from now on.

Her Revenge reviews are also great. She's really one of the site's greatest assets, as she's a very good, straightforward writer that doesn't take herself too seriously, and also has quite different taste from the most of the writers here and is able to review shows like this on their own merits. I wish she would

Twin Peaks and Buffy both debuted midseason, causing them to have short first seasons. Dollhouse did as well though I'm not entirely sure it counts as "truly great" even though I love that show.

Wait what? Hannah was a horrible person pretty much throughout this entire episode. And she ate Cool Whip straight out of the container! She also put a puppy in her shirt which is pretty weird and kind of gross. She should have received a 4 at most.

I would say that aside from the football scenes it calms down quite a bit after the first season, while keeping the overall look pretty consistent.

In what way would losing the Sophia arc make the show weaker exactly? That was easily the worst thing the show ever did, which is saying something.

You are just missing the fact that Todd is spoiling episode four's revelation that Bacon and Purefoy's characters are in fact a cat and a mouse trapped in human form by an evil wizard: Purefoy is killing because he needs to make a human sacrifice to turn back into his animal form. The twist is that it hasn't been

Friday Night Lights, Whedon's various series (particularly Buffy), Lost. I'm sure there are others I haven't seen (Parenthood and The Good Wife are very well reviewed as well). It's not really fair to just compare the cream of the crop as well: there have been plenty of network shows in recent years that are/were far

I love TVD and I (mostly) like Williamson, but I think TVD was pretty much a crazy fluke that ended up working out, and I don't expect anyone involved to make anything else nearly as good (how The Secret Circle ended up pretty much proves this point). There are so many things about that show that should make it

Apparently Tim Minear and Howard Gordon worked on it… surprisingly good pedigree for something that sounds pretty sleazy and bad.

I'm guessing you never watched anything past the first season?

I had high hopes for this one since I love Vampire Diaries and the Scream movies, and the first season of Dawson's Creek was a lot of fun, but then again the constant ads didn't really make it look very good. I'll still check it out tonight and see if it's at least entertaining, but Todd's tastes tend to be pretty

I mean I could say the same thing about Predator: it's ridiculously offensive and pretty cheesy and by the numbers. I really like True Lies and I think it's Arnold's most charming performance: it's the only movie where he really seems to be acting. The movie is kind of questionable and sexist, but the performances are

They review The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, and Supernatural here so it's not totally absent from the site, but most people here will only keep reading about the genre shows and not so much the teen soaps. I hope they keep up with this one if it manages to maintain this level of quality though, the pilot was a lot of fun.

His movies with James Cameron are clearly the essentials, and after that Total Recall, then Predator and Conan. He was in a surprising number of excellent action movies back in the day though.

Wasn't that in the third season? Or did season 4 have a flashback episode that I'm forgetting?

@avclub-92a4841c9f86965effbc29fa6eae9f77:disqus You do realize that half the action ALWAYS took place off island on Lost due to the flashbacks? I think season 5 actually ended up spending more time on the island than a lot of seasons since there were few episodes with flashbacks, and only two or three that took place

You don't like any PG-13 horror movie? I feel like a lot of the decent recent horror movies I can think of were PG-13: The Sixth Sense, The Others, The Ring, Drag Me To Hell… I guess House of the Devil, Splice, and Cabin in the Woods were R but it's been pretty PG-13 dominated lately.

Definitely Django, it's my number two movie of the year so far. I really liked ZDT as well, I actually find them quite similar: both are basically revenge stories, and both are very well directed and have great scripts, despite being pretty morally questionable. They also both have a lot of really strange and
