Nah, really crappy episodes in the last season = Nothing Important Happened Today, Trust No 1, Hellbound, Provenance/Providence, Improbable, and Jump the Shark. Wow, that's like half the season, more than I thought.

There are a handful of pretty good episodes: Daemonicus, John Doe, William (ok that one's controversial), and Release. Sunshine Days has a lot of fans as well. The finale is also definitely worth watching for fans: it's not the best series finale but there are some good scenes and some sense of closure (I prefer I…
I gave this an F, because First Person Shooter is just that bad. I actually like Theef pretty well, it's a decent MOTW, if a bit by the numbers, but First Person Shooter is just beyond awful and probably the first F episode of the show for me (though season 1's Space, season 4's The Field Where I Died and Unrequited,…
No way, Oldboy is by far the best movie of the trilogy, and Park's career. The characters are much deeper and more sympathetic than the other films, and the pacing and the way in which the twists unfold are absolutely perfect. It's emotionally wrenching in a way few of his other films are. The other two films in the…
I actually quite enjoy Rise of the Machines: it's not great and the TX or whatever she's called is dumb, but I think it's a fun action flick with some good set pieces, and I think the way it ends is pretty clever and nicely closes off the series. Nick Stahl is pretty boring and uncharismatic as John Connor, but I…
Really? I thought both of those movies were dreadful, more like watching videogame cutscenes than an actual movie. Salvation also has some of the worst acting I have ever seen from major movie stars… Bale's approach to playing Connor was baffling to say the least.
I don't know, I like the cast, but it just doesn't seem like it will have much of his style and just kind of looks like a typical Februrary horror release. Plus he had no hand in the script which is a bad sign.
Kind of sad how America is co-opting these awesome Korean directors and making them do less awesome things: Park Chan-Wook's "Stoker" is coming out soon as well. I wish foreign language directors would just resist the urge to make the move to America… has that ever turned out particularly well?
Yup. It's not really that complicated. And there were dates at the beginning of each segment to clarify the timeline.
Just to be annoying, it is impossible to pan down: you tilt the camera up and down and you pan it side to side. Just one of those little misuses of words that always bugs me.
It's kind of a bad sign that the leftover episodes that were held back are more enjoyable than the more current episodes though. "Christmas Party" has been the only decent episode to actually be produced since the Thanksgiving one so far.
I think you definitely hit the nail on the head there… this show really has the same problem as Up All Night, where it's trying to be two shows at once: a workplace comedy set at a gynecologist office and a wacky rom-com satire. It's not clear which direction this show should lean on, though I would say the workplace…
She's always bothered me because she looked a lot like someone else, but I never realized that someone was Amanda Peet until just now. She definitely looks exactly like her, with all the little flaws airbrushed out or something.
Huh, so this is what Miguel Arteta is doing these days. I was wondering since he wasn't doing any AHS or Enlightened episodes this season. I was quite impressed by this pilot, it was fast paced and a lot of fun. Best of all it has a really promising cast with a lot of chemistry, always the most important aspect of a…
This has to be the most positive I've ever seen anyone be about Tom Cruise. While he seems like a pretty terrible person in interviews and such, I actually have to mostly agree with you here… his filmography is pretty impressive. The Outsiders, Risky Business, Top Gun, The Color of Money, Rain Man, Born on the Fourth…
That picture reminds me…why is Harvey Keitel not in more good things? It's been really hard to find anything with him in it worth watching for the last ten years or so (so I was thrilled when he randomly showed up in Moonrise Kingdom). As well as being an amazingly great actor he's my number one celebrity crush: I was…
@avclub-3f25572c35f89ec156ebaeae12ec5ca5:disqus I've been trying to convince people that Vampire Diaries is basically Game of Thrones with way less wheel spinning and more likable characters for forever.
Yeah this show really needs to get the buzz going this season, that will help it much more than the ratings going up.
It's true, I kind of feel like Enlightened is "my" show much more than anything else on the air, and the threat of cancellation and small episode order ensures that I treasure pretty much every minute of the show. I also suspect that I will end up rewatching this show way, way more than other show of the 2000's.
Very sad that there are still so few comments around here: I was hoping the Girls lead in would give it a boost. Absolutely amazing episode, and fantastic review: it pretty much perfectly summed up the episode. This was really a very satisfying response to season 1's cliffhanger and gives this season a lot of room to…
