It would have been interesting to see what direction they took the show in if he'd not run back into the drug problem and had to be written out. This was one of those cases where a new cast member really re-invigorated what had become a tired show (just as Spader did when he joined The Practice).

Once you make License to Wed, the world sours on you. It had about half the cast of The Office on it, and it wasn't long after that that the show headed downhill.
