God I love The White Birch. 'Loss Leader' is the best song this great group recorded.

I feel like what most people are calling twee, I call wry and affecting.
I am so tired of seeing the words twee and/or precious in just about everything written about Wes Anderson. Don't degrade wonderful movies with condescending qualifiers.
I just bought this album despite the bad review. "De Javu" has been one of my favorite pre-release singles for the first part of 2012. Everything the writer references just made the record sound like fun to me.
Got this record in the mail yesterday. The song "Don't Know How You Do It" is definitely the highest highlight for me after only a couple of listens through. Beautiful, bright music with a great string arrangement.
Ever since I started visiting this site I've thought it was weird that the reviews on such a dedicated pop culture site amount to nothing more than capsule reviews with basically no in-depth analysis or thought.
I believe Zammuto will be playing the festival as well, I can't wait for their debut album to come out.
Professor Blastoff! Certainly my favorite Earwolf podcast. The harmonizing at the end of the Ocean episode was amazing.
The only time I found Steve Martin's dad character charming.
Also, that picture's been avatar since I joined.
Well shit.
@Vote Or Die: I agree, Wincing the Night Away is my favorite Shins record, even if it does kind of peter out a few songs before the end. Sea Legs is great!
Good List
And I would respectfully add Yo La Tengo's "Last Days of Disco" as a perfect example for this inventory. Beautiful song about falling in love while dancing to a disco song that in no way resembles anything you can dance to.
Don't dis the De La
It might be a little late, but I would have suggested that he give a closer listen to Buhloone Mindstate, because it's their best fucking album. Ego trip, ego trip…
Women in his movies
I think it's a little unfair to bash him for writing shallow female characters. It might be true of many of his recent movies, but come on, one of the things he's most famous for (especially in the 80s) is creating female characters that have depth and are interesting. See: any character played…
Really? I thought the second album topped the first in every way. More engaging and dynamic both musically and lyrically. I guess my fantasy third record continues that trajectory.
Forget Fugazi…
What I would MUCH rather have is a new Evens album. How about it MacKaye and Farina?
