Right? Actually, I was never really a fan, but at this point it's just super condescending. "Oh well Elena can't handle being a vampire, so I have to turn her back." His wanting her to be the same as she was is understandable, but trying to change her back is SUPER CREEPY.

@avclub-6df40b25ac1d572cf6900484a4dae9ed:disqus I actually haven't read any of her short stories other than the Lottery. But The Haunting of Hill House is a super creepy ghost story, and We Have Always Lived in the Castle is…hard to describe. But great!

I kind of agree, except that Elena and Damon are SO much more interesting in their scenes together than Elena and Stefan are. I think that Stefan is probably better for Elena, but I want to see her with Damon just because I think it would be way more fun to watch.

I was also wondering that, but @mike__tv:disqus is totally right. Esther had the whole mustache twirling speech where she explained her long-term plan to turn Alaric into a psychotic vampire killer.

My guess is that it has horrible, horrible side effects. Like death.

I haven't read House of Leaves, but The Haunting of Hill House is awesome. Less postmodernism, more Shirley Jackson is a credo I can get behind.

@avclub-24f6f7a488efc0455e1cb95aea962bed:disqus Yeahhhhhh, the morality in this show is pretty much nonexistent. In Buffy, all the vampires except and Angel (and eventually Spike) were pure evil, and the scoobys (mostly) didn't kill humans, so there were pretty clear boundaries. In TVD, Damon KILLS PEOPLE FOR FUN. And

Also, Emily would totally expose that dude's plan in a minute. A MINUTE.

She seems prettttttty psycho. Also….the kill-your-own-child conspiracy? That seems unlikely to result in major gains down the road.

As an extremely slender, not very flexible person, I can attest that the two things do not necessarily go together. Tight hamstrings make it hard to touch your toes, okay!?

Next week, apparently. In the preview it looks like he gets Alaric's job. (So not principal, exactly, but close!)
