While it doesn't change how bad the women's ladder match finish was, at least the story and majority of the promos were pretty good tonight. Carmella's initial promo was good, even if meandered at times, and both Charlotte and Becky were really good in their backstage segments.

My favorite moment of unintentional comedy in WWE for a long while was when after Charlotte told Nattie to shut up or she'd end up looking like Ellsworth, Tamina repeated almost verbatim the same threat to Charlotte. I could almost swear that for a second there was this priceless look of confusion on Charlotte's face

I was really surprised how long they spent discussing the women's MitB match and Bryan's reaction to it in this episode. I know they hype things, and that is smart, but I can't recall the last time they did it this much in commentary. It is also making me wonder if SDL is planning to have the first women's title

I actually dug the Rollins promo as while it started a bit stiff, it started flowing as it went on and managed to give Seth some depth by explaining what it means to redeem yourself. I'm also liking the dynamic they're setting with the Bray feud as Seth just does not believe in Bray, which allowed him to get the upper

This was a weird PPV for me. As has been mentioned by many, the ring work in the big matches was really good, but in the end I'm not at all excited to watch SDL and see what happens next. It feels odd as SDL is having massive momentum issues, as illustrated by so many metrics, yet they seemed to double down on their

I think the placing of the tag match really hurt that finish. I think it would have worked a lot better in isolation as the finish made a lot of sense, but to do that after the women's ladder match was just baffling.

Talking Smack encapsulated why I thought the finish to the Women's MitB match was such a horrid choice. They run tweets on the bottom of the screen about the show and, with one exception, every single one of those tweets concerning the women's ladder match was about James Ellsworth. It didn't add any heat on Carmella

I thought the direction and pacing in this episode was superb and felt that the choice of focusing on the SWAT, or whatever their correct acronym was, as this brutal, effective machine tearing through the prison was an effective one. To me, the central aspect of this season was that you can't escape reality and this

For me, there was a really good thread in this episode of people facing not the consequences of their actions, but rather the reasons why they took those actions. Taystee was the core example of that, but then there was Bayley still struggling with his guilt and the Latinas being forced to examine why they did what

I yelled at the screen when Taystee rejected the offer. I thought it was an excellently done scene that really build on what had been before and how we had seen Taystee almost lose herself in arrogance. Even when they compiled the original list of demands, she was shocked that Poussee was so low on the list and here

While I think I enjoyed it in general, this episode had so many weird moments. For example, and I realize it must have been addressed at some point with me missing it, but if the light-eaters wanted to eat all the light and snuff out the sun, why was it bothered by concentrated sun-light?

I really like that Taystee is so lost in her negotiation and certainty of how well she is doing that she completely blew past the fact that she is building everything on a lie that essentially endangers everything she could hope to achieve. Especially since she had already assured Figs that the guard was okay. That

That moment in the end when Red stood up after being thrown done by that mountain of a man and told him that she was born ready to fight was so utterly badass that it caused me to forgive how contrived the setup itself was.

Something I've been enjoying in this season is that Alex/Piper finally feel like just a regular couple. They have their disagreement and bicker, but in every scene they still feel like they care about each other and just accept those quirks. While I realize their relationship isn't for everyone, for me there is this

I like the slow escalation they've been doing about the sexual comments about the PR guy with first them having almost shown it as a joke, but in this episode we then entered the disturbing zone. This way the actual increase didn't come out of nowhere while still allowing that unease. Don't get me wrong, there still a

Something I'm really digging is how they are deconstrucing Piscatella in the background. In the previous season he was just this stoic, racist expert everyone looked up, to but here we are kind of seeing that that was because he was the only trained officer there. Yet when he is forced to interact with actual

My favorite part about the Slytherin reveal was Piper's astonishment about being a Slytherin since she lied in every answer.

Something I'm actually enjoying is that in this episode they added a lot of nuance to Taystee's desire for justice in that it came across slightly selfish. The grand idea behind it is noble, but it is also driven by the fact that Taystee doesn't have anything else beyond the walls of the prison. Thus she has no

As we prepare for the potential trainwreck that is Naomi/Lana, I did get a kick out of how astonished the commentary was that Lana was able to pull off a move. Don't get me wrong, it was a good looking move, but just their surprise was hilarious to listen.

As a somewhat defense for Charlotte/Nattie, their Roadblock match last year was fantastic and their Payback match was pretty well-received outside the finish. The duo usually has pretty good chemistry and, based on what we've seen of the two, Charlotte really knows how to make Nattie look good in the ring.
