This was definitely the best season. I always got bored in the middle of the first two years, and even though there was a bit of a stumble after the failed hit on Gyp I was still eager to watch each week. Honestly I think Boardwalk Empire upstaged Homeland during the fall season and I really wasnt expecting that at

That gag properly begins in Bart's get famous where the whole 'celebrities in jars' thing begins in a daydream.

I think the criticisms of Season 6 are perfectly valid but fall apart when you consider the highs. While some disagree, I don't think any of the puffed out story arcs did any damage to the rest of the season so it never really bothered me. They showed what happen when you put the mafia interrelations front and center

It's not so much the actual killing itself but the complete lack of emotion he shows afterwards that really highlights his ruthlessness. Evil and pragmatism get along just fine.

While its not extremely bad, the pretzel episode from Season 8 is the shark jumping moment. It's when the show started to cover repetitive emotional beats with stupid and uninspired scenarios (pretzels, manatees) and this is what characterizes dull Simpsons today. When I watch Season 8, I still can't believe that one

My usually savvy mum refused to believe that the CIA would do something as illegal as covertly assassinate a US citizen.

That's definitely true and the show has definitely been making a point of showing his damaged personal life this season I choose to not put a lot of stock into it because it's a worn out and almost unavoidable trope in any gangster story and it's been done in more interesting ways.

But ultimately Rothstein's playing a smaller game than Nucky. He's just a gangster and ultimately doesn't carry the same power in the long run no matter how much of a badass he is.
