Hello Newman

This guy… is not my kind of guy.

I was hoping somebody would click the pi icon in the lower right corner of the screen.

So it's not about representation, then? It's about making up for the past? At what point does that stop? Hollywood's only been making movies for about a hundred years. In a hundred years (after all the demographics have shifted, of course) can we go back to population representation?

I'm just curious: what is the end game for representation? Is it to match the demographics of the country? Or to make up for the past? What would be considered making up for the past? And how long should this go on for?
If 13% of the country is black and 5% of the country is Asian, should 13% of the film roles be black

Can we hereby coin the phrase nontroversy?

::exhales:: thank god it's now safe to express this opinion here. I was told what a bad liberal I was for not giving a shit about this.

I hear Tomi Lahren's available too.

Very true. It's always worth checking out the user ratings as well, but I don't put too much stock in them since I feel like it's a pretty self-selecting group of people that goes out of their way to rate movies on RT in the first place.

I maintain that the best movies are usually in the 45-70% range. Or at the very least, the most interesting movies are in that range. Great art is almost always divisive.
To put it in somewhat tautological terms: How good can a movie be if everybody likes it?

Sorry you're right it takes decades to learn how to frame a shot

The DSD is looking into it.

I never understood the conservative fealty towards the constitution, especially considering its original form didn't even include the Bill of Rights or little things like slavery.
Some parts of it are great. Other parts need a page one rewrite. (my eye's on you, second amendment).

You misspelled "movie"

I had the Dangerous Creatures CD-ROM for that.

To be fair, at that age I also thought that "sugar free" and "fat free" products meant that they provided extra sugar and fat to you at no additional charge. I wasn't a smart kid.

Yes but now every time you say the word "bee" it gets faster.

True sadness: When I was 11 and our family got our first Windows 95 IBM clone computer, upon dealing with my very first software crash, I called Suresh (the independent fellow who built our computer) in a panic asking if the cops were going to show up at my house because I had performed an illegal operation.

I wasn't. It really doesn't take much to learn about the rule of thirds or the golden ratio or negative space. Maybe "a few YouTube videos" is more reductionist than reality, but I don't think one needs to go to film school for 4 years or be DPing for 10 in order to learn what makes a good shot.
