That Kanye comparison is pretty depressing, given that Lauryn Hill doesn't seem to have found any real relief or happiness since this album. Sometimes you don't get better.

Yeah, when I saw the trailer before Fantastic Beasts that's what I thought it was about. And it seemed like it could be a decent enough entry in the ultra-sappy holiday movies genre - not my thing, but not inherently bad, and if done right there could be some real emotional heft behind it.
I've heard that this movie is amazingly bad, and I almost want to see it for that reason alone.
It's good to see Hodgy getting some success. I always felt bad for him - he's clearly talented, but a lot of people assumed he'd just be remembered for his verses on Tyler's songs.
I think the utterly inept and incompetent Trump administration will probably speed the process along too. He makes Bush look like a paragon of dignity and intelligence.
Nudeviking, you're a national treasure.
Re: the fainting - Jesus, I'm really sorry about that. That's terrifying. I passed out last year during a panic attack and I still remember that horrible feeling of "oh my god, am I dying?"
I feel kinda bad for his son. Robin Thicke may be a tool, but based on everything I've read about him he's a deeply miserable alcoholic who drives away everyone he cares about, and this will probably make it worse. I don't wish that on anybody.
There are a few things that make it work for me:
Someday, someone will make an amazing black comedy out of the Trump administration. So much of this shit would be downright hilarious if it wasn't, y'know, actually happening.
Which is cause for hope. Most people don't like Trump.
I like "Herr Gropenfuehrer."
"When Mexico sends its prostitutes, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of sex toys, and they’re bringing those sex toys to us."
Plus, Clinton's been on the receiving end of a right-wing smear campaign for two decades now. Not that there aren't plenty of valid reasons to dislike her, but anyone who listens to talk radio has long since internalized the idea that she's Literal Hitler. I've known Trump voters who didn't like him but voted for him…
And I think she underestimates how difficult it is to get through to someone who's been living in Fox News-land for so long that Trump not only seems like a good guy, but the only logical choice. It's not even that they're necessarily bad people - their world is just fundamentally unrecognizable to us.
The whole "Obama hates white people" thing was huge a few years ago, with literally no evidence to back it up.
Yeah, I really wish he had undone more of Bush's policies. We have an immensely powerful government right now, and one that's about to be handed to a monster.
I see it as his punk album. It's shocking and vulgar and ugly and offensive, but artistically it's probably my favorite thing he's ever done. I certainly get why not everyone would feel that way, though.
gotta put on some Boards of Canada to really get into the culty vibe here
They want to bring about the end of the world. It's the logical endpoint of the right wing's insane nihilism.
