Levar Burton doing his best Reading Rainbow voice, even when being super creepy is one of the nicest bits of nostalgia I've encountered in a long time.

I haven't re-watched the show since I watched it years ago, but I remember being completely surprised at how good it was. It was one show where the end-game followed through on it's promises in a way that didn't frustrate me (Evangelion and Rahxephon I'm looking at you!), and I remember being pleasantly surprised by…
Planetes is an example of the manga actually being better than the show which feels kind of padded. The manga is completely fantastic, so the show kind of can't help but be almost as good by proxy.
Four more. Darker than Black, Planetes, Scrapped Princess and My-Hime. Recommended, not a must.
Solid list, but I'd add Shinichiro Watanabe's latest series Kids on the Slope. It's very very different from his other stuff but its got great Yoko Kanno selected jazz, and a solid story, Though I'll admit I haven't finished it yet. Also, maybe Ergo Proxy though it is a slow start. Psycho Pass also hasn't…
America is safe in the hands of General Robert Forster, or he's behind the whole thing (with co-conspirator Ashley Judd)
I read my brother's trade paperback copy of the original "Carnage" Spider-man story arc when I was about seven. I read it cover to cover even though It scared the absolute crap out of me. I don't think I slept well for weeks because I was convinced a super-powered psychopathic serial murderer was going to kill me the…

Igby Goes Down. Watched it with my mom. The night before mother's day. That is all.

Basically a lawsuit from White Wolf games (and the wrath of many angry nerds) is an inevitability at this point.

I think I probably would have died of alcohol poisoning If I hadn't been in high school and had a curfew. I had to leave half way through, and I don't know how I sobered up in the cab on the way home. It was a real clutch performance.

When I first watched Commando I played the drinking game "Drink from your beer every time something awesome happens". By the time Arnold throws the phone booth I was well and truly plastered.

I still maintain that Daniel Pinkwater is the Kilgore Trout of young adult literature, and I mean that as the highest compliment. Alan Mendelsohn and The Hoboken Chicken Emergency are fantastic, but no mention of The Snarkout Boys and The Avocado of Death? There is no better book written about going to midnight…
