So much of the fighting was an inversion of the Sozin's Comet episodes of ATLA. First off, the major battle is between an airbender and a super powered rocketbooted firebender, but this time the airbender is the bad guy and the firebender is the Avatar. The setting is so similar to that battle, and the way the terrain

The Aang resemblence killed me. Both because of how hopeful it was, and such a quick reminder of how much I loved that kid, but also because it really showcased part of what Korra must feel right now. Based on her hallucinations earlier (plus Zaheer and the Red Lotus deeply believing it), she really is grappling with

I could see Toph and/or Su as somewhat associated with the Red Lotus writ large, not this subset of four. Maybe they frequented RL circles at one point, and maybe Su even actually got more involved. But I don't think there's a way they are involved with Zaheer's gang that makes any sense.

I think with Kai separated, and the airbenders theoretically still trapped, it's the Jinora show for the rest of that particularstrand of subplot, and I cannot wait.

Red Lotus: delectable tea or deadly poison?

Last week it was implied that Tonraq and Zuko were already nearby. They didn't fly down from the North Pole when Lin contacted them; that was a short wave radio.

What has been a mess to you? I think this is easily the best season of Korra and definitely rivals a lot of ATLA for me.

But Bumi did make a difference. Without him it would have been 3 on 2, and I don't think Tenzin and Kya would have fared so relatively well for so long if there was a third, unencumbered member of the Red Lotus fighting them.

I'm just pointing out that his choices are children or new airbending adults with no experience whatsoever, so Bumi is the obvious choice.

Obviously Aiwai's spiritless wight body was piloting the ship. This show is going full Game of Thrones in every way. Just wait until you find out which pair of benders are siblings and secretly boning (hint: Bolin was more right than he thought).

If only. There literally cannot be too much baby bison screen time.

Bumi is an adult with a lot of combat experience in the United Forces, plus single handedly took out Unalaq's base in the South Pole due to his weird, dumb luck prowess. It makes sense to keep him, even just as a minor road block that ensures the rest get away. Bumi wouldn't back down from a fight like this.

Not only was the Kai scene a weird note for this episode to end on all things considered, besides providing a tiny bit of hope, it's weird for him to presumably (I'm presuming, not sure if anyone else is) find his life partner bison and have the moment be given short thrift.

Bumi was so smart to jump on Ghazan so that he wouldn't be able to use lavabending, but was less smart when he didn't snap his neck (or kick him in the crotch when he zoomed under him). I know the show definitely could not go that far whatsoever, but Ghazan was not kidding around with his attacks on Bumi, and I would

Mrs. Doubtfire was the gateway movie. Soon, 90s teens would move on to harder movies like The Birdcage.

It's $13 on Amazon Prime.

He did do the nasty in the past-y.

I was wondering if that was a weird spelling from some British commonwealth country, so don't feel too bad. I'm sure others made similar rationalizations to wave the misspelling away.

I just rewatched the ending of season 1 today, and there was literally no reason for Amon to have painted his face. He's the kind of person that would scar his own face with fire to make sure he was as effective as possible, so the paint is such a strange cop-out, especially since he revealed the truth by waterbending

I completely agree. I was thinking depending on how this season ends the next book could be called "Chaos," but "Balance" makes much more sense. I have a feeling a lot of institutions may come crashing down around the world and Korra et al may literally have to put the world back together again in a new form, which
