I agree with Cheese . Amon truly does hate bending and he is out to stop people like his dad from harming others, not avenging his father or really getting revenge of any kind.

That's a great point about the use of POV for both Tarrlok and Korra. I didn't even consciously make that connection, but it does very strongly support the argument that Korra's suicidal thought was intentional and not an overread by us.
