When Abed said six seasons and a movie, I now assumed he intended us to watch the first three seasons twice.
It does seem a little off, but if I recall correctly the teaser FOX aired before the pilot was similar to this. Like others have said, it's a tough show to sell in 3 second bits.

Personally, I'm of the opinion the first was made sincerely but was doomed from the start (and listening to the commentary track with Baugh and Moore reinforced this).

Garden State came out when I was in college. I pretended to like it so I could get laid (I did, it was pretty neat).
I saw ItL before watching TToI, it made perfect sense. Most of the actors play different characters in the film from the series, so it's more of a stand-alone than a companion piece. VEEP really started banging on all cylinders by the end of the first season, but my god… TToI is hands down one of my favorite sitcoms.…
