Reading interviews with Bullock & McCarthy, sounds like they had a blast making this movie, & they became fast friends.  Combine that with the fact that they probably made some decent coin—especially Sandy B.—and it's hard to feel like she lowered herself for this gig.

That's one of the worst ads I've ever seen, @avclub-22eda830d1051274a2581d6466c06e6c:disqus.  Was that Paul Provenza?  If so, a low point, even for him.

I heard/read that the Bossypants audiobook, read by Fey herself, was even better than the book.  Same deal with Steve Martin's Born Standing Up.  I'm rarely in the car alone for long stretches anymore (as usual, I blame the children), but last summer I took a solo road trip to Chicago (from the Twin Cities) & got 'em

That's right about where I set it down, too—a little past that.  I'll definitely get back to it, probably as soon as I get through GoT.

I was reading & really enjoying Keith Richards' memoir Life, but got a sudden strong urge to finally read Game of Thrones.  I really wanna check out the show (again, finally), but feel that it's important to read the books first.  I'm only about 200 pages in but I'm REALLY diggin' it.  If the show is anywhere close to

Who said he needs to have "all the answers"?  The basic life questions he's been asked by the universe—"Is it OK to brutalize someone you supposedly love?", for example—are well within the ken of the average 19-24 year old.

HIGO, one of the first I got, is still my fave, but Things Fall Apart is a close second, though none of them is less than very good.  I have yet to pick up Do You Want More?!!!??! & Game Theory, or that one they did with John Legend, though I've heard high praise for all three & will eventually get 'em. I grew up in

Nah, just the occasional mild, publicly humiliating beating.  That's funny.  Guy getting beaten to death ain't funny, not even this yutz.

Agreed.  I share stories like this on facebook, but my facebook friends never appreciate them like my AV Club brethren do.

"Drunk" implied poor judgement. These guys deserve a medal.

He's one of those guys where you might not recognize his name but you definitely know his work.  (Of course, the average smarty-pants AV Cubber knows his name, too.)  And the more you dig around, the more you realize just how much of his stuff you know.

One of the lyric sites I checked had that as "psyched lone ranger". Though to be fair "cyclone ranger" doesn't make a lot of sense, either.  So, I dug around a little, & found there's some disagreement about what the lyric REALLY is.  It might be a reference to a film: http://www.imdb.com/title/t…

SCATTERED SMOTHERED COVERED CHUNKED & DICED

I remember reading at least one review at the time that called bullshit on the mask thing.  The premise that as a young man he wore a mask like the one he just happened to be restrained in decades later makes no logical or narrative sense—it's just trying to capitalize on an iconic image.  So, silly, not inspired,

Two words: CRACKER BARREL.

No sex

No women
No fun
No sin
No you
No wonder it's dark

Except that all those groups who applied for tax exempt status, you know, GOT tax exempt status, not thrown in jail.

Forget yeah, zombies!

But they DRESSED in BLACK, & got their EVIL powers from the DARK side.  IT'S RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, @avclub-fec1b8d3fbc08f27a84e5a334d45bb5a:disqus ! HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE IT?!?!?
