I always thought they were more interesting on their more non-political stuff, like Snakecharmer.  I saw them live in '96 at Sloss Furnaces and you can't deny the power of their music live. When those opening notes of Bulls on Parade start, they're almost physical.

As a Southerner, I kind of agree about Southern food. I love fried chicken and barbecue as much as anyone, but all traditional Sothern cooking seems to be to be kind of one-note. I want something with more flavor. Shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes and fried pickles are pretty awesome, though.
