Jacinda Barrett's acting is pretty great, but does anyone else get distracted by how often her accent slips?

What's with Gary's behavior here? Are we supposed to assume he never really had any interest in Claire at all? Everything leading up to this made it seem like he genuinely cared about her, and then here he is acting completely cold and unprofessional when Claire goes in to thank him. Is this just the writers aborting…

Since this is the spoiler thread:
It's really striking how similar Rabbi Ari is to Maggie. Both of them charm Nate in the same way: by being so spiritual, and playing that spirituality off as an effortless, easily accessible deepness.

This is one of my favorite episodes, even if it does become a little too on-the-nose at some point.

Probably because Lisa's in her thirties, and if there's one thing that's unimaginable to people like Claire, it's older people being cooler than them.

That's because the Lisa we see here is terribly lonely and unemployed, and the Lisa we see later has been working for a draining control freak while taking care of a newborn and an immature husband.

I loved it all the way through, but each season definitely deals with a different type of conflict, and I think it's much more comfortable to watch a conflict like the Fishers vs. Kroener. It's so black and white - an underdog story, where the good guys find a way to fight the evil corporation. That's the first…

I'm not sure I agree that Ruth is voicing a disapproval for David's homosexuality with her comment. Of course, she's set in old ways and views of a previous generation - she wouldn't react the same way if Keith was in a heterosexual relationship - but I get the sense she believes that gay people are fine and can be in…

Or the passive-aggressive way she handles Ruth feeding Maya peanut butter. Like I've said below, I found a way to like Lisa once I found out what the show was saying with her, but the show goes out of its way to show her being an irritating nag as much as possible.

I felt the same way watching the show for the first time - I was watching it unspoiled, but in the first episode of the third season where we have Lisa and her awful boss I had to know how long these characters were sticking around.

Yeah, I adore this show, and I love it so much that it wasn't until my third time through it where I started to see some of the flawed writing. It's just covered up so well by the brilliant acting on everyone's part. It would have been very easy for a lesser actor to make Claire just seem fickle, unpleasant, and…
