I thought it was cool, too, how Fanny was tuned in to younger generations.  She does her communicating with social media, while Michelle has no idea what's going on on the Twitters and the Facespace and all that.  (Pretty sure she doesn't even know what Yelp is, much less how to ding Davis on it for Truly humping.)

@avclub-ca94d6e1a824e303bc93a05dc947498e:disqus Man, but their parents really set them up for that, though.  They've made one kid's *punishment* to be helping the other kid.  Why would they have anything but an antagonistic relationship as a result?

I wonder if Melanie's just a bit more confused by stereotypically girly things (not withstanding her talent for ballet).  Talking about relationships and getting nonverbal cues aren't her forte, but she's all over trying gross food, photographing foot wounds, and substituting insults and threats for conversation.

Well, we could also see in the pilot that Ginny's mom took up a lot of mental real estate (hurr, hurr) for Ginny, and since then, it's made a lot of sense that Ginny's boyfriend's near-courting of her mom would get under her skin.

@Whatwhatque:disqus Fanny can't be in the opening credits because including a post-menopausal woman would distract from the credits' main point.

The Reds tried for their own version, too: the Spartakiad, since Spartacus led slaves of many ethnicities to revolt against The Man, while the Olympics were seen as all aristocratic and capitalist and stuff.

I'm guessing that's when Walt started thinking about how to get Jesse to dump Andrea (that's her name, right?  All I can think of now is Epyck) and Brock.

I sing the magneto-electric;
The laptops of those I defeat consume me, and I consume them;
They will not let me off till I go with them, respond to them;
And corrupt them, and charge them full with the charge of car batteries.

Pretty sure that was her lunch break.  It was Sisterly Salad Tuesday.  On Thursdays, they get together and talk about how much they love Yoplait.
