Completely agree. A lot of my friends in high school used to laugh over those things, but I was raised in a pretty extreme religious household, and those comics hit way too close to home. I never had the guts to speak up, but I wanted to say, "You know there are lots of people who actually believe this shit, right?

LOL. Okay, so that's clearly a superfluous adverb…  But now the style pedants are saying ALL adverbs are bad writing, and that's just madness.

Sometimes a character will be sketching and you can tell they don't even have a real pencil - like the director gave then a clear wax pencil, because they can't even be trusted to make the tiny marks on the finished drawing without screwing it up. So they're just drawing away, but no actual marks are happening. Ditto

I can't believe I forgot that awesome line! I was saying it for days after seeing the movie:
-Pass the salt, please?
-Salt won't save you, Jeff. Only my new powers can do that.

Oh, they're Rockets! I get it now. He kept describing them, and I was picturing them more like Sweet Tarts, but then he said "individually wrapped" and I was like WTF?
Anyway, Canadian friends, let's all give thanks that we don't live in the post-apocalyptic hellscape of shitty candy that is the United States.

Oh, and of course you're completely right - it doesn't make any more sense to have a Macedonian character with a British accent than any other accent. People have just gotten used to hearing it and they think it sounds right, so I guess now we're stuck with it.

Agreed, but the opposite happens too - like when there's a character who talks about faith a lot, and a character who's super analytical and is all "Faith is silly! Science tells us everything!" you know who's going to be right and who's going to be dead by the end of the movie.

Even worse: I've actually seen shows where the characters order from the menu and then leave before the food comes - like, not in an emergency or anything, they just leave. I always think about how pissed off the waiters would be.

Yeah, that was definitely my main complaint about Alexander. It was perfect, except for that.

The bras on during sex thing is weird, but the only other option (with the no nudity rule in place)is the classic shot of the couple lying in bed, but the woman has the sheet pulled up to her collarbone and the guy only has it pulled up to his waist… which just looks hilariously stupid.

It always makes me think the
