It was restored by Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Foundation, and a new 35mm print has played in New York and Los Angeles.

The UCLA film archive has a 35mm print of it, which they had mislabeled and weren't aware of for years! It's a great film that deserves more exposure.

The wonderful Tim Burton exhibit that hit NYC's MOMA before traveling to other cities featured his 1982 Disney channel short HANEL & GRETEL, which he's regrettably disowned. It's far more fun and packs more replay value than garbage lilke DARK SHADOWS and PLANET OF THE APES.

I'm just floored by how Warner Bros. has managed to bury one of the first studio films directed by an African-American, Bill Gunn's STOP, for over 40 years. Here's some more info on it:

"BOY-O!"

REMEMBER MY NAME has incredible performances all-around, especially from Geraldine Chaplin, Anthony Perkins and Alfre Woodard (who plays a similar no-nonsense character in Robert Altman's movie H*E*A*L*TH)

It's a shame that Rudolph has basically retired. He currently lives on an island off the coast of Washington State and is mostly involved with painting nowadays.

Rudolph's REMEMBER MY NAME (1978) and THE MODERNS (1988) are both incredible.

Richard Rush's filmography is definitely worth delving into. GETTING STRAIGHT (1970), one of about 13 or so films that Elliot Gould made between 1969 and 1971, is one of the best "campus in turmoil" films.

Nope. You've gotta hear it on Youtube.

Isn't Montana principally a blue state? I know Idaho is super-conservative, but I thought that the LDS church only had a real foothold on Southern Idaho and cities like Coeur d'Alene.

David Allan Coe's "Cum Stains on the Pillow" is probably country music's apex

THE CRITIC and DUCKMAN were both better shows than THE SIMPSONS, even in its prime.

I've never really been a fan of CONCRETE ISLAND. It starts out so promisingly and then peters out to nothing…

I'm still waiting on the 4-hour cut of 1492: CONQUEST OF PARADISE that he talked up a few years ago

Wait, the Blu dumped Scott's short film BOY AND BICYCLE? That sucks.

There isn't enough mention of ISN'T ANYTHING when we talk about My Bloody Valentine. I still think it's arguably a better album than LOVELESS, and "(When You Wake) You're Still In a Dream" might be their finest song.

I just don't know if I can enjoy Bagge's new stuff after reading his pro-libertarian nonsense.

Wrong answer. It's not a perfect record (you can practically smell the coke they were snorting while making it), but songs like "Begging You", "Breaking Into Heaven", and the immortal "Love Spreads" are among the best songs the Stone Roses ever recorded.

Their last album came out in 1982, so I'm fairly certain that not only did they survive punk, post-punk and disco, but they broke up at their commercial peak.
