That's not smooth jazz… Smooth jazz is Kenny G's bastardization of the word jazz.

You should try listening to the podcast, they seem well humored.

I don't get how Todd sees a nice tied up resolution coming from all of this. My alarms are going off with the increased camaraderie between Cohle and Hart, I think we're being set up for a 'Chinatown' style of ending.

Glad to find someone who also liked (let alone watched) Reds.

The Assassination of Jesse James, and 4 Months 3 Weeks and 2 Days weren't nominated either. If they would have taken out Juno, Michael Clayton, and Atonement (and I actually really liked all three of those) and thrown in those instead, shit, that would have been one for the ages.

2007 was a pretty amazing year. It's kind of hard to say that No Country deserved it over Blood (and I think people will look back and wonder why Jesse James wasn't nominated), but it's a solid choice, especially when compared to all the other winners in the years surrounding it.

They nominated Three Colors: Red for directing and screenplay Oscars
that year, they should have thrown it in for best picture so we could
have further grounds for outrage.

George of the Jungle may or may not have been a favorite of mine as a kid.

Nothing is more infuriating than watching the horror and beauty of Saving Private Ryan only to get washed out with bullshit sentimental patriotism at the end. He also did it with Lincoln… and nearly did it with Schindler's List.

Fuck they could have given it to Capote or Good Night And Good Luck, both well made films in their own rights… Even if Good Night tries a little to hard to draw parallels between the McCarthy era and the Bush years.

Not to mention vaguely racist.

In case anyone's opinion of 60 Minutes needed to be further diminished.

If a nail was ever hit on the head…

More hard-boiled detective than western

It's what the other people said, but to be honest, editing for small continuity things is a pretty pointless task. Editors control the emotion, the information conveyed, and the rhythm of a work, if they have to sacrifice continuity to get the most out of a cut, they will, because most everyone won't even notice.

Can you explain the human trafficking and racism issues in soccer? Or at least link to a good article?

Did Breaking Bad make a Watchmen reference? Nice.

Finally, that Frontline notification comes.

Maybe the studios will finally kill of this fucking cultural fixation on zombies and release Bonnie & Clyde: Resurrection, which, in an attempt to usher in a new-Hollywood Golden Age, will flop, destroy CGI ridden, over budgeted, bloated films and actually usher in a new golden age.

The Hershey speech was the most moving piece of television I've ever seen.
