This is a web paper, with a quick turnaround and low budget, so I normally ignore bad proofreading/copy editing.  It happens on sites everywhere: "in" for "is" typos, dropped articles, noun/verb disagreement.  I let them all slide, especially since the price of admission is so reasonable.

The new opening, in addition to having the theme less over-produced, also stops putting Will McAvoy's face alongside those of people like Huntley, Brinkley, and Murrow.

Your comment reminds me of the three horrible misstatements of fact from season one.  The first is the line you're referring to, about hurricanes being caused by high pressure systems.  They're actually caused by low pressure systems, as I'm sure you know.
The second is the line about the Apollo 13 astronauts shutting…

"This time of year there's a low pressure system that moves down from
Newfoundland.  Ordinarily it moves out to sea once it hits northern New
England, but there's a particularly unusual Atlantic cold front that I knew would keep it coastally contained."
