Black Gallagher don't go out like no bitch!!
I cry and cry and cry at this film, it's wonderful and is not just the perfect Christmas film. It's also beyond criticism in my mind, being attached to so many of my favourite memories. I may not watch it all that often any more, but when I do it doesn't take a lot for me to be in absolute floods of tears.
Dalek1000, maybe it's because you misspelled it. It's "toclafane" (not that that makes any more sense, to be honest).
Agreed on Richard Coyle. Maybe he can't do a good enough English accent though?
Reset buttons have been the bane of this show's existence, I think.
Bonkers, I like the cut of your jib.
And "48 Hours" on British TV had the truly awesome replacement "muddy funkster".
The Dollhouse vibe
People complained about Dollhouse because of its odd setup - the heroes started off being a bunch of murderers, pimps and whores. I think this show has the same element to it, in that the heroes of the show work for a fairly evil company. And Ted, at least, is pretty high up in it. So I know there…
Ye gods, I take it you didn't see Coogan's most recent tour. Absolute bollocks from beginning to end, can't think of a comedian I've paid to go and see and enjoyed less.
The reason people thought it was a weak episode was because it was half an episode and half a trailer for next season.
It's not so much an epilogue as a trailer for the next season, I think. I think these shows should have a better / cleverer way of wrapping things up.
Whoever plays Tara is a piss-poor actress. She drags the show down, and hasn't really added anything to this season - the person linking Maryann to the town could have been anyone, really. Please write her out, True Blood guys.
Taxi must have more resonance for Americans (or possibly just people who aren't me) as I never quite grasped why it was funny. And Andy Kaufman…
I thought the first one was boring, so never read any of the others. It's a cute idea, but it's not a series-of-novels idea.
I loved the "The Room" reference in there, and now want to hug you.
And there's no way the last one could be called bland in any way.
I happen to have a copy of the Ferris novel, given to me by a friend when he moved out, so it won't be much of an effort to start next year. Also, the system of having a round table discussion could probably work, as I felt by the last AV Clubber to comment on "To The White Sea", the commenters had burned themselves…
It's impressive because there's no film I can think of which tries so hard to offend everyone watching it, and everyone else around the world. It's a work of some demented…genius? No-one other than Boll could have made this film. Oh, and the bit where Boll appears as himself and discusses how he funds his films…
Whoever defended him by saying he'd basically created the last three RHCP albums - is it much of a coincidence that those three albums are absolutely awful?
