I don't believe I criticized anything, other than maybe what seemed like an incongruous statement before Dowd's clarification. I'm sure it's quite gripping.
All the "abusive, controlling" stuff is definitely awful, but if I were a billionaire industrialist, I'm not sure I wouldn't have new acquaintances checked out by a private investigator. In that situation, you're a hell of an attractive target for crime and fraud.
It just depends how likely kids are to take them out. We never found out how Flushed Away ended, but The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel ran like a dream.
