Damn it, you've got me tearing up again!

Bias implies a certain order and consistency, so it makes sense to me. Or is making sense incompatible with being Chaotic?

I believe the IMFDB mentions something about blanks having to be custom-made for the Model 29, but using a stand-in Model 25 where feasible would save on the consumption of those, so I can imagine it.

Well, better to focus on her than her surroundings.

My daughter and I frequently joke about that new V8 "Healthy Greens" juice, which, to us, is precisely the right shade of green for squashed bugs and Exorcist reenactments, and the wrong shade for a beverage. But I guess there's a whole generation now raised with Juice-a-Matics that it might appeal to.

A store like Aldi, shelves stocked with Euro-store-brands, often makes me feel like I've wandered into an episode of Fringe — packaging just similar enough to the familiar brands that the differences feel weird and disconcerting.

I think it was John "the Dapper Don" Gotti who actually supposedly tried to put out a contract on Rickles for some insulting comment. He soon cooled down and withdrew it after some of his circle helpfully pointed out "Aw, c'mon… it's Don Rickles…"

Actually since the '80s, as I recall it. In the '70s that transition was already underway, but you could still hope for the occasional plastic top or magnifying glass or bb game (that "spy kit" shown in the article's link is apparently a collection of '70s items from Australia). This is one of those things where the

The purple jacket is more iconic, but really this one's more versatile.

Hey, is that Freedom RockChopin's Funeral March? Turn it up!

C'mon Peltz!

I doubt many A.V. Club commenters wouldn't be okay with being greased up to make out with Allison Janney.

I believe Gene once warned one of his sisters not to tell Mom about his litter box.

I guess they're not the most fearsome of corporate entities to stir up, and the sequence I mentioned might even qualify for parody protection, but when companies are known to sue for even incidental unauthorized inclusion of their brand, it's odd to really focus on one in a less-than-flattering light.

I do wonder how they managed to get the cooperation of some of the real brands that turned up in Idiocracy. Wasn't there a sequence that showed the metamorphosis of "Fuddruckers" into "Buttfuckers"? How the hell was that negotiated?

I've actually tended to feel the opposite — that it's made-up brands that are the fourth wall violators. Obviously it can be taken to obnoxious extremes (e.g., Mac And Me and others mentioned above), but I think some measure of brand presence is important to verisimilitude.
(edit to acknowledge my redundancy with Lazlo

Sure, but then you get another Ann-Margaret/Oprah fiasco.

Great drawing! And great Goldblum reaction.
