If you want to talk other 70's soft rock acts, I quite enjoy England Dan and John Ford Coley, though I can completely understand why some people would despise them.  But Fleetwood Mac?  I don't see any cause for a visceral hatred there.

Yeah the guitar fills on Dreams are very elegant and memorable, and definitely a signature sound.  Only Buckingham would have played that stuff.  Instantly recognizable style.
