Well I've also met many Republicans who love Star Trek: TNG, which portrays a socialist utopia with no money, and in which the military does more science than it does actual fighting. So, yes, I totally believe this.

He also brought about playoffs in college football, so I think P&R has pretty good odds if he's re-elected. If only we could get him to watch Firefly…

Narrators pull me out of movies/TV more so than trailers, which are more constricted in terms of telling you what everything is about. A movie presumably has at least an hour and a half to show you what's happening, and a show has even more than that (albeit in small chunks), and unless it's used to evoke a certain…

I really enjoyed the scarier parts of the first book. Maybe I just scare easily, but there were some genuine chills in there, and I didn't mind that some of those parts didn't have much comedy (even if the premise was comedically absurd).

I haven't read the second one yet, but I actually thought that the first 1/3rd of the book was the best part. You could really tell where the original internet story ended and where he decided to pick it back up later, and it didn't flow very well.

Agreed. There was a lot of good work on PWOT that sadly never made it over to Cracked, such as some choose-your-own-adventures and fake movie reviews. Some of Wong's recent articles (I'm thinking of the "why men hate women" or whatever) are not nearly as good and sometimes use rehashed arguments that weren't correct…

This whole conversation reminds me of a documentary I saw on PBS a while back about race, and how it's an incredibly muddied and inaccurate way to sort people. But in particular your inability to tell different nationalities apart isn't surprising, and it applies to more general forms of races as well. Try taking this…

I thought he was knitting something for some reason. I'm a little disappointed we didn't see him with a beanie or some awesome homemade socks by the end of the movie.

Congrats on making the no-fly list!

Also the Final Sacrifice. The Beast of Yucca Flats was one of those to me that seemed like such a boring movie that the crew could only do so much to salvage the viewing experience. Oh, I just thought of another I like. The Bloodwaters of Dr. Z.
As with Space Mutiny, it was on the Gateways to Geekery article linked to in the intro.
