I love having to click "show more comments" 50 times instead of clicking "next page" twice. What a helpful upgrade!

Crap, I did my username the wrong way!

The economy got worse, so there's that…

Yeah, that's definitely the biggest problem with that post

Okay, maybe this is a bad idea but I am going to try to respond to this seriously.

It varies from state to state (though I've never heard of separate polling places for different parties). Here in Alabama, you have a registered party (or independent), but it doesn't affect which primary you can vote in. I primarily vote in democratic primaries, but I have voted in a few Republican primaries as well

Pretty suspicious for someone to want to interview an elected official… Why would they want to know about his views on state laws?

Because it's easier to commit voter fraud on Sundays! IT'S ALL PART OF THEIR EVIL PLAN.

The whites do not need your condolences. We still have basically all the power and economic opportunity and social privileges and media presence. Plus, as demonstrated in this thread, we do such a good job of flipping out whenever another group challenges that, that we're doing a pretty good job of keeping it. So you

Yes, you want to prevent crimes to the best of your ability, but you also have to look at the effects of the law you're putting into place. When you compare individual voter fraud to, say, breaking and entering, rape, murder, theft, etc, etc, etc…, the prevention of this particular crime seems pretty damn stellar. So

Is being super-racist just to piss people off and amuse yourself any better than being super-racist because you hold super-racist ideals?

But it COULD happen, @flagonthemoon:disqus! The possibility of a couple non-citizens voting is so abhorrent it's got to be worth disenfranchising poor/brown people.

I swore I would never downvote too, but I think maybe blatantly racist comments could be a good exception.

Oh great, now that he's unemployed Don Yelton got himself an AVClub account. Thanks a lot, The Daily Show.

Good point. And while the Xanth novels seem to be pretty obvious in this regard, it can certainly be a mistake to take character motivation or dialogue as actual author mouthpiece. Since I've already admitted that I haven't read Heinlein, I won't say any more about his work as that wouldn't really be fair.

The only Anthony book I ever read was "On a Pale Horse." (Do we use html tags or something else to italicize?) I guess it was about 8 years ago, and I thought the concept of that series sounded pretty cool. I don't remember any over misogyny (though maybe it was there and I just missed it), but it definitely did not

I have never heard the term "manologuing," but wow, it definitely is vastly superior in terms of wordplay. The question is whether wordplay or precision in its connotation is more important. It seems that "mansplaining" conveys the meaning more precisely: A man feels he has to explain something his superior brain so

Well.. a lot of judges and cops still think that. It would definitely put me off, whatever the context. I'm kind of surprised, because while I haven't read any Heinlein, I had the impression that he was pretty good. Well, I mean, he can certainly still have been a very good author with one bad viewpoint that showed

Jesus Christ. I have never read any of these books, but someone I knew in college recommended them to me. I am now both hoping he just had fond adolescent memories and doesn't still like them, and almost wanting to skim one of these just to see how bad it is.

Holyyyyyyyyyyy shit.
