Oh yeah, I was really bothered by the whole sexual politics of acting discussion, as it seemed pretty backwards to me, but I guess I don't know very much about acting.

Definitely not a fan of "Move Along Home," but I still think "If Wishes Were Horses" was worse. Still, DS9's first season measures up better than TNGs, as a lot of episodes are just kind of average but give us information about the characters, and some episodes are actually pretty good in their own right.

I watched it recently and the Q episode is actually much better than I remembered it. I mean, Q definitely doesn't belong on DS9 and I'm glad he didn't return, but it was still better than at least a couple TNG Q episodes.

I agree about Mulgrew, @avclub-8b8369fc782a66a1118bd9eda89ebc07:disqus . I really enjoyed Bakula, though. And I think Stewart maybe even helped him work through some long-standing issues he's had (for whatever reason) about being best-known for Star Trek. I love Stewart's line that it's perfectly fine to him to be

I'd say it's worth it if you're willing to do a crapload of reading. Overall I like GRRM, but WOT is a little more action-packed for the most part, and I like the way the magic works. Unfortunately, Jordan wasn't nearly as good as GRRM and others are at making politics interesting, but he apparently thought he was

Oh, I'm sure Cersei has plenty of crazy left. Varys will make sure to find a way to bring it out, I'm sure.

CONTINUATION OF SPOILERS
I guess I just can't think of a very good stopping point if you're only going to go through about half the storyline of books 4/5. Davos's last chapter is kind of a good place, being pretty interesting… But the only other things I can think of are Meereen continuing to be shitty, Jon pissing

It wasn't that thrilling, but it also didn't take up a very large portion of the book, I think. She didn't get nearly as many chapters in book 2 as she did in book 1.

SPOILTASTIC

32154 is correct. And I still enjoyed books 4 and 5, especially #5. I might have enjoyed them less if I'd had to wait 5/6 years for them, but since I started reading just before book 5 came out, I enjoyed a bit of a break from the breakneck pace and rapid protagonist-killing.

I do think it's interesting to see how the gods are treated. So far I really don't see any evidence at all that the Seven or the Drowned God exist.

Kind of spoilers:

Yeah, and you're supposed to serve for life too, for all the shits the Lannisters give about those rules.

Wait, holy crap, did Dany's visit to the House of Undying predict the RW? I have to reread that chapter

I was sort of thinking about rereading WOT and get to the finale… I'm just not sure I really want to. There will be some hardcore skimming involved if I do, especially during books 7-11. The last book I read was the last one Jordan wrote while alive, and it actually seemed a little better than the few before it, but

I think the books often mention that he looks older, despite the fact that he is indeed younger.
