I liked it when I saw it in theaters, but I was about 10 and had never seen TOS.

I wouldn't say there's a hard and fast rule about whether the movie should be made for the core audience or for a wider one. Rather, the problem (which I think the OP was getting at), is that it seemed like they were trying to do some of both, but didn't succeed with either. Whereas TWOK managed to give nods to the

Yeah, it was a real chance for the writers to drive home just how much Wesley sucks.

DS9 uniforms are just better and more understated. The glaring colors of the previous uniforms say "HI! I'M ON A SCIENCE FICTION TELEVISION SHOW!"

The first episode was actually pretty good. I could tell by the 2nd episode that I was in for a long ride, though… But not really, because I quit halfway through the 2nd season. I'd still like to watch the few good or essential episodes the series has to offer, though. I'm just no longer interested in watching the

Giving Troi… a psychology degree

I was thinking something along the lines of "Who Watches the Watchers?" Darmok is good, but it is yet another Picard-centric episode. I'd personally go with something that can show more of the ensemble. BOBW worked for a friend of mine. Yes, there's backstory, but as with TWOK, you can get by without knowing all of

It's wrong to compare things that are different! Only comparing things that are the same can yield interesting results! And don't even get me starting on comparing things that are of different quality!

There's no way his paradise would show Insurrection and Nemesis, though. So, theory disproven.

I remember hearing buzz that the next movie after First Contact was going to feature those parasites from "Conspiracy." That sounded kind of cool..

Maybe it's Okona… I seem te recall that he might have been somewhat of a "rogue." Can't remember where I might have gotten that impression, though…

I imagine that there is some "Dr. Who" type of rogue somewhere in the Star Trek universe who has mapped out the course of the Nexus and uses it to travel wherever and whenever he/she wants, having all kinds of crazy adventures. Any one of which is better than "Star Trek: Generations."

They would have just screwed Lore up, and we all know it.

@Tragically ludicrous etc.: You could always watch along with the reviews! Of course, then people will need to get in line about providing proper spoiler alerts…

The only time I laughed during the movie was when someone in the audience said "good year!" when the bottle of champaign came floating across the screen.

Okay, this is the last one, I promise… Oh, no, we have to help out vs the energy ribbon because we're the only ship in the sector! Wait, what? Didn't you just take off from earth's solar system?

Oh man, and if they wanted to get new uniforms for everyone, how about not spending half the budget on fucking naval outfits for everyone to wear in one brief, stupid scene?

But that would have required some kind of creativity in the writing. I have to wonder how much Ron Moore had to do with this script, because I'm so used to liking his work. Then again, William Gibson managed to write the worst X-files episode ever, so I guess it can happen.

In the television show, they would have taken a couple hits and figured out what was going on, followed by circulating the shield frequency (or something like that). But they had to make everyone dumber to service the big 'splosion.

"No, the surprise was that I am a waffling ninny."
I guess you have something in common with "Generations" Picard, then.
