I tend to play potentially day-long time sink games like SimCity, Civilization, or the Sims. Maybe I'll try to play a more substantial, story driven game this year but I doubt it.

I sent you a friend request on Steam under onechordwonder (I will delete you as a friend after you receive the game….no offense).

I love Fallen London, but I never played it extensively exactly because of the waiting mechanism. I did wind up buying their Sunless Sea on steam a few months ago…I should go back and see what updates they've added.

This has been gone over pretty much anytime a Telltale game gets mentioned.

I also wish the conflation would stop. There's a big difference between games like Peggle and Angry Birds and games like Farmville.

If someone's not being derisive about it and just approaching it from a ludological perspective, I think it's a fair argument. I mean, the whole wait-or-pay-and-then-click concept behind freemium games is essentially anti-gameplay.

No.

I recently tried playing a short adventure game to try to distract myself from a bad breakup for a night.

What is with all the artifacts in the hero image? AV Club, you're not supposed to make raster images bigger. You can scale down, you can't scale up.

For what it's worth, I tried out the KK game this afternoon and you really only have the option of dressing sexy as a female avatar. Though some outfits are considerably skimpier than others, you're basically forced to pick between these skin tight jeans or those skin tight jeans, these 4 inch heels or those 4 inch

You're right, but I guess, especially with the gameological integration, I expected a more well thought out, thorough list.

I'm going to disagree with the comparison of WoW to freemium games. I should clarify that I don't really have a problem with freemium games. I think they're occasionally fun to play for a week or two before the novelty wears off.

I didn't realize the Kardashian game was a rebranding so I took a look and realized I did play the original version of this game for a week or two. And while it's better than most games of this genre, I still can't really see seriously putting it on a best-of list.

It's about him making his cohost laugh.

On a shallow note, I always thought this guy was the male equivalent of Ann "Egg" McNoface on Arrested Development. He seems to frequently get cast in roles that require an attractive male, and I can't help but think "Him?"

I guess the biggest flaw for me was that it tricked me into thinking that, for once, I wasn't just button mashing.

You have to keep playing through it to unlock all the different endings (there's 6, if I remember correctly). More of the story will be revealed through each playthrough.

I don't play too many new games, so my opinion may not carry much weight, but I'd say The Uncle Who Works for Nintendo was the best new game I played this year.
