Lizzy Caplan is the best. I'd be fine with her being on every comedy.

That song is unimpeachable, but I also never tire of Fake Bands and I Hope You Get Drafted.

The Dicks were fucking great, so glad you included that album. They're one of the few punk bands I still enjoy listening to after all these years.

I'm 33? The fuck? I knew there was a reason why I stopped counting.

Hard to imagine why a studio wouldn't sign off on a script involving something called "Mxyzptlk".

I can assure you that Chinese businessmen are well familiar with Japanese schoolgirl outfits, as Japan is China's unofficial porn supplier.

I love Get Some, Go Again, especially the title track. It's so over the top. When I want to hear something that really rocks, it's either that or Ween's It's Gonna Be A Long Night. Neither should be taken particularly seriously, but they're both awesome.

Where You Been is a great album, regardless of what anyone might say. On The Way, Get Me, and Drawerings are all amazing.

The Woodpile and Dead Now are just amazing tracks, and there really isn't a bad song on there.

This year has seemed completely underwhelming to me as well. I only have four albums that I legitimately think are great. Pedestrian Verse for sure, which I think is much better than The Winter of Mixed Drinks. Baths' Obsidian, which is just a huge leap in quality. Classixx' Hanging Gardens, which has some killer

I would actually put Justified far above Mad Men. But I am kind of Justified crazy.

At a Leftover Crack show in San Francisco in (I think) 2003, STZA actually did smoke crack on stage. That was weird.

I'm super psyched for this series, Heller, and this was a great first article. I hope you talk about Choking Victim when 1999 rolls around!

Great write up, Mike! I loved this movie, and I credit it and The Sweet Hereafter with really piquing my interest in movies.

Even if it's Toots & the Maytals?

Came for this and enjoyed it just as much as I expected to.

I'm probably way off, as I'm terrible at the band association game, but there is something in the jittery guitars in places that made the two come together for me.

Sort of reminds me of Enon and to a lesser extent Brainiac. Of course, pretty much nothing is as awesome as Brainiac.

Team Really Big Sack. Hmmmm. That doesn't sound right at all.
