John Cleese once said that, until they worked closer together on the films, he only ever heard Gilliam say two things: "yeahireallyloikthat" or "yeahthatreallypizzezmeoff".
I believe this may be some sort of comic hyperbole on Mr. Cleese's part.

Cleese has repeatedly stood up for Carol Cleveland, noting that she was simply so much better than any of the other girls they used in sketches she should have been made an "official" member of the cast.(Which she eventually was).

Actually, the spin-off book to RWT (THE RUTLAND DIRTY WEEKEND BOOK) hints at how good Eric COULD have been. Besides the sheer quality of "world-building" in it ( seriously, the similarity to SCTV is striking), there are things like an autobiographical essay about his youthful sex life that suggest he might have had…

At this date, it's hard for people to grasp just how REVOLUTIONARY Gilliam's animations were at the time. (Seriously, it's like telling people about life before THE SIMPSONS).
Eric Idle (who yes, DID do quite well with the ladies by all accounts) once did a pretty tough-but-fair analysis of the team's work; in the…

I never thought I'd say this…
…But MUMMY IV is looking like a pretty good idea right now.
Some of the "Timm Team" do BEN 10; but then, those guys are scattered all over town working on different projects now.
There's a CGI GREEN LANTERN show coming up that Timm will apparently be in charge of; no word if it will be a revival of the "old" DCAU… sadly, probably not.
HARLEQUINADE. It's an actual song from an old musical;that's how it got past the censors. Dini heard it and realised it HAD to be used.
Templeton said in an interview that it was "a major player in the DCAU"- so it definitely wasn't Jason Todd, who didn't exist in that continuity.
Fun Fact: the release of SUB-ZERO was SUPPOSED to coincide with the theatrical release of BATMAN AND ROBIN… but was delayed by a full year when Warners realised that B+R was a dog, and SUB-ZERO was essentially competition.
They did a couple of interesting variations, (like the very logical idea that the Riddler specialised in stealing data and information), but it was too much in the shadow of the Timmiverse to ever amount to anything.
I second the praise for Templeton/Slott. SUCH a good grasp of the characters , and such clean story telling in single issues. (And Badass: when Deadshot taunts Batman by saying "last time, you needed the whole LEAGUE to stop me!", Bats takes him out with the words " We BOTH know they just slow me down").
A fan once…
Scarecrow really benefitted from the revamp- both that creepy re-design (if it ain't by Mike Mignola, it's a good imitation), and getting Jeffery Coombs (later also The Question) to do the voice.
I read an interview with Bruce Timm where the interviewer kept asking "how did you get away with BATMAN BEYOND:RETURN OF THE JOKER?"
It is the only LOGICAL explanation for all of the differences between B:TAS and BB, and was carefully structured around the rules Warners made them follow to keep it "kid-friendly"…but…
Yeah, stuff like that is what they should do… if they update it. THRUSH was frequently depicted as being essentially a corporation (although sometimes they were played as an "evil empire" or even a weird cult) , and UNCLE was explicitly the "undercover" division of the U.N. (the show's best running gag was disguising…
Being a fan of the original…
… even WITHOUT Soderberg, this could go either way- although smart money says we'll get something along the lines of the first to seasons ("Down to Earth" and '"Tongue in Cheek") rather than the last two ("Over the Top" and "Grim and Gritty").
An early episode described the evil…
Lupin the 3rd. The first, the best.
Actually, there's arguably more Kull in the film CONAN THE BARBARIAN than there is Conan, with Thulsa Doom and the Serpents as the villians, Conan spending time as a slave and gladiator, and even an unbilled cameo by Kull himself as a skeleton on a throne (although this is unconfirmed, the art director has identified…
