True Fact: as a cop, he actually arrested his CRIME STORY co-star John Santucci!

Well, yeah, we would have needed a Batman up to his standard, of course. (

SEMINAL show.
  And STILL bad-ass.

Do I have to tell everyone how awesome CRIME STORY is? because I will if I have to.
Or you could just watch THIS:

Best Commisioner Gordon we never had.

MAN, that would have improved MOS.
Especially if he were in "Elvis"-mode.

It has always puzzled and amused me that Reed wrote a review championing the original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. It's as if, after that one concession that a movie that down-and-dirty CAN be good, he felt he was free of ever having to admit such a thing ever again.

Zack seems to not really understand the seismic impact Gilliam's animations had (much as someone today might shrug their shoulders at an underground comic). But yeah, if you were there…
Gilliam actually gave the best metaphor himself, and didn't even know it. In the GOLDEN AGE OF BALLOONING sketch, there is a

You are a king among men, Craig Stephen Tower.

A lot of these guys remind me of Craig Kilborn, who actually had some sharp material, but blunted it by making it all about his own superior attitude.
Kilborn's history of being replaced by guys who end up more successful than him should be a lesson: Get over yourself, and get out of the way of your own jokes.

Actually, Adam West's Batman DOESN'T keep shark repellent in his utilty belt ALL the time; in BATMAN: THE MOVIE, it's one of an assortment of "repellents" kept onboard the Batcopter; and in SURF'S UP! JOKER'S UNDER, it's part of his special Batman Beach outfit (you know, the one with the brightly coloured swimtrunks).

I saw COWBOYS AND ALIENS in a theatre. It started off as a straightforward Western- and the audience was clearly diggin' it pretty hard.
It was only AFTER it transitioned from a decent Western to a bad sci- fi film that the audience turned on it.

The redesigned, Jeffrey Coombs-voiced Scarecrow is the best example of this; surprisingly, Bruce Timm's "imitation Mignola" take on the character is actually better than the few times Mike Mignola DID draw the character (admittedly, Mignola kept to the traditional design)

The Pythons openly MOCK the idea of "remastering" the show, noting that the current DVDs "capture every sparkling flaw of the original lousy videotape masters" (or something like that).

http://www.avclub.com/users… "Brian Blessed warning" is an affectionate jib, of course.
(and also maybe a note to turn down your speakers a bit.)

http://www.avclub.com/users… Craig J. Clark : It's ARTHUR, KING OF THE BRITONS, a 1972 series that was, in style and attitude, sort of a precursor to ROBIN OF SHERWOOD.
