True Story: After Chapman started speaking publically about his homosexuality, a religous fanatic sent a hate letter to the Pythons, saying that The Bible demanded that all homosexuals be stoned to death.
Idle, in charge of handling fan mail, sent out a reply assuring the irate viewer that this would, of course, be

When A FISH CALLED WANDA came out, John Cleese and Jaimie Lee Curtis did a satelite tv interview where the host asked Cleese to do "The Silly Walk'. Cleese responded by going off to the side, out of camera range, and "obliged". The camera remained steadfastly on Jaimie Lee, who  watched Cleese's offscreen antics and

George Harrison might have suggested it (giggling as he did so).

"I looked up, as if somehow I would grasp the heavens. The universe, worlds beyond number, God's silver tapestry spread
across the night. And in that moment I knew the answer to the riddle of the infinite. That existence begins and ends is
man's conception, not nature's. And I felt my body dwindling, melting,

(according to Bruce Timm, the "Twins" theme was originally used as a temp track for the animators to use in timing the animation, and was to be replaced by a new theme afterwards. However, there was a misunderstanding, and it was instead replaced by a RE-RECORDED version of the "Twins" theme.
  Also: Bruce Timm likes

Implicit in LUPIN III is the idea that it's Zenigata's extreme competence in dealing with anybody BUT Lupin that has kept him from getting fired… and it's his success at catching other, more dangerous  criminals WHILE chasing after Lupin that has made his bosses keep him on that PARTICULAR case.
   After all, as an

"Whose performance is this?"  has long been a debate among animation buffs, and it's actually a pretty complex one- I've heard it argued, quite convincingly, that animator Glen Keane actually "played" Ariel in THE LITTLE MERMAID, and actress Jodi Benson was "merely" her voice.
David Hyde-Pierce refused to reprise his

Actually, the Steve Martin PANTHER movies are similar to Carrell's SMART film in that Clouseau really WAS a pretty good detective (in his own way); he just had apallingly bad social skills.
I don't think you CAN keep a character as a total incompetent if they're going to be the centre of an ongoing series; at some

It's  the reasons his relationship with 99 worked so well; they really WERE a very effective team.

They put out an action figure of him- with a piece of cardboard concealing his head, so you had to buy it to see his face!
http://static.neatorama.com…

Look at early episodes of GET SMART!, and you'll be be surprised how close it is to the "serious" spy shows of the day. There are a few scripts  that, with a bit of judacious editing, could probably be used by I SPY or MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.; you could even keep a lot of the "jokes" and just let Culp and Cosby use them

He'll probably end up there when he gets too old for action.

Columbo is large and in charge.   Nigel Bruce on the outside;  Basil Rathbone on the inside.

Lovely Bones, I don't think you're getting what I mean.
Look at the origin of Two-Face on B:TAS. now, I think they pulled their punches TOO much on that-, with the bit that "young Harv didn't REALLY put that guy in the hospital, it was appendictis!" or whatever. That's NOT what I'm talking about. Kids can totally

Gui Montag - kind of, but more superhero-y. Batman shouldn't be a supporting character in his own show.

He's beloved by children NOW, and kids will actively seek out anything with his name on it. (dammit, we ALL grew up on him, we KNOW that). It's simply TOO LATE to change that now .
And again, is just not a good idea artistically- let's not kid ourselves, at a certain point a guy in a bat suit fighting evil clowns

You know, you CAN get away with a lot of stuff without actually pulling out the gore and foul language, you know.
  Seriously- A LOT.
But again, it's just common sense- if you REALLY want to do something more "adult", you're better off ARTISTICALLY creating something new just for that purpose than trying to twist a

MY ideal Batman film wouldn't be a film at all, but a prime time, semi-serialised drama.( it's really the only way to get the full value out of that huge stockpile of material).
I'm seeing it as a cross between B:TAS, the live-action FLASH series, and CRIME STORY, with a pinch of THE SHIELD (but only a pinch; never
