"It’s indicative of how scattered this episode is that I barely
registered what Margaret is up to in “Spaghetti & Coffee,” though
she has several big scenes."

@Buford, funny, when she started applying mud and herbs to Durant's wounds two or three episodes ago, she did not mention to Lily that she learned those particular skills in "White People Land", instead referring to learning how to do that from the Indians. My point is actually the same as the one you are…

"Perhaps that’s because the family troubles of Eli and Chalky are less
interesting to me than faux-family troubles of Nucky and the Darmody
clan."

I'm beginning to find the only 100% redeemable (gutsy? artistically valid? interesting?) parts of the show are the opening scenes. In fact, if Hell on Wheels just condensed itself into the opening five minutes of every episode, it would probably receive a A+ each time.

Glad someone else said this. I would personally swap out this week's grade with last week's (and vice-versa), if just for the fact that last week's episode had real stakes paid, whereas this one was just more treading water and ended with one of the most annoying tv cliches of all- the two main sexy characters finally…

Yes! Worst commercial transitions ever. It's like the video just disintergrates at the end of a scene. I'm not even watching this show with commercials and the cuts to and from are totally WTF territory.

Wait a sec…what's wrong with Melissa George?

There are some glimmers of promise, but we need to start seeing more of them soon or else. I too want this show to work and I was underwhelmed with the first four episodes and only moderately interested by this one, mostly because it showed more of what was happening at the doctor's house with the black Lennie…

I could see this argument…though I'd toss in the tidbit about Tara's teenage crow tattoo pretty much sealing her fate long before she came back to Charming. I'm warming up to accepting this argument, but I think it comes through the lens of her love for Jax and to hell with the consequences.

Is it too much to ask to finally get just one measley scene between Calamity Jane and Charlie Utter on this show? (Pretty please Uncle Kurt?)

I really don't, but now that you've brought it up…purple kittens, huh?
