Never said there was.

I know, I know . . . I'm a monster.

It's not among my absolute favorites but I'm still rather partial to it. If there had to be one movie that just about everyone liked, I'm glad its "The Shawshank Redemption". The film is hopeful but not overly sentimental, its about a prison and criminals but it never glamorizes violence, it has universal appeal but

I'd agree with you . . . except that the musical number was accompanied by the most unnerving face Jon Hamm has ever made on this show. I think that face and the song coupled with Ted Chaough changing his mind about leaving and the huge payday for all the partners really made the whole thing work.

"Yesss . . . . quite."

"Poppycock and whatnot!"

Batman V. Superman 2: Dawn Of Justice Rises

My favorite bits of any chronicle of this festival are the descriptions of the crowds (their general ridiculousness and loud booing of most things). I get the sense that going to Cannes, as exciting as it is for film, must be equally worth it just to people watch.

Its funny how often stories of the Royal families' deaths are played as great tragedies in dramatic depictions . . . I've always thought it should be more of a dark, dark comedy about people who are so insulated they can't see what's happening right in front of them.

That's fair. I should remember that I'm speaking as a person with little to no faith in any "god" . . . so my belief that the book and film are perfectly legitimate probably isn't shared by all people who are religious.

I do love how everyone was upset that the film put Jesus in a sex scene, but no one cared that he's played by a bond haired blue eyed man.

Yeah . . . I know. I guess I was coming from a "its true in spirit!" perspective. I get that its pretty far from Biblical accuracy, but (at least in the novel) Kazantzakis does present the story as sort of "Religious" fiction. He states in the prologue that he wrote the book as a way to deal with his own struggles

Yep . . . although this is generally true for most people. The most liberal and/or atheist individuals can be guilty of the exact same thing. It just speaks to a wider problem in the culture, however at the moment, this seems mostly true for the Christian community at large. There are still a lot of people in America

I always say that if you think its blasphemous you didn't see the movie or read the book . . . or you just didn't get it.

I want to start a Church called "Dr. God's House of Horrors."

I don't actually mind a large influx of Christian themed films hitting theatres . . . what I mind is that none of them will be anything remotely close to intellectually stimulating examinations of faith (or even just general good quality). Its disappointing to me that something like "The Last Temptation of Christ"

You're expression of a belief that is contrary to mine makes me feel repressed. Please stop violating my First Amendment rights!

I get the feeling Pattinson was cast in "Cosmopolis" because of his pretty boy blandness, not in spite of it, and I don't think he'll reach DiCaprio's talent level, but whatever . . . I think he works for the film. I'd recommend it with reservations only because I feel like I constantly need to defend myself for my

Yeah . . . looking/acting crazy doesn't necessarily make people run for the hills. For a more extreme example, I'd offer the Russian Royal Family's strange veneration of Grigori Rasputin, who looks batshit insane in every photo and apparently smelled bad enough that people in the early 20th Century noticed.
