Cheers, 7's!

Two little queries (because I know how much you enjoy answering them, 7's!):

When will the son realise that saying 'I'll come with you, pop!' is not going to work on the old man? Feels like he get shut down every week.

I agree that the characters are a bit all over the place here. When I saw Marge lying on the couch scoffing down her dinner I thought 'What are you doing, Marge! This isn't you!'

I felt the pacing/structure of this episode was quite off. The writers used Homer's suicide to kick-start the 'real' story which took away all its significance. I liked the reveal of the power plant being Homer's main opposition but I would've wanted it around the 8-10 minute mark.

I also thought the train scene looked very nice, although the way the passengers were drawn was very un-Simpson-y.

I've seen this episode enough times to make it a 'Christmas Classic' in my mind. In pre-internet times I never knew this was the first episode; I guess I felt it captured the spirit of the show straight away.

I will join this bandwagon! Season 5 is the only set missing in my collection (of the first 8) so I may pick that up when we get that far.

I can't speak for Revolution but I am thoroughly enjoying Last Resort. The most recent episode is considered to be the best, if it helps you to have something to look forward to.

I recently finished my first time through B5 and I'm pretty confident I'll watch it again some time down the road. I loved it, warts and all. I don't see myself recommending it to anyone, however; there's so many caveats I'd need to include in the hope they make it past the first few episodes. For me, the show peaked

@avclub-a7f6c96dac16f8ff45d7ea3549a10010:disqus Yes, everything except the reading part.

And you know what the worst part of all is? I NEVER LEARNED TO READ!

Honestly, she's pretty much hit the nail on the head. I'd describe the show in the exact same way.

The two that spring to mind for me are The West Wing's 'In Excelsis Deo' and 'Noel'. From my memory, 'Noel' is the more standalone-y, it's certainly a differently structured episode than most.

I see you support Max's stance on the vending machines. I just feel like his whole campaign was built on one issue, y'know?
