I need to read the novel again. Getting into Carrie's head the way King did was not pleasant.

What is the studio giving out the money shot of Carrie covered in blood? We all know what happens of course but leave something to the imagination, studio.

Maybe for the way she treated him after Shane's death. I was little lost on his attitude toward her myself.

Good lord that is an impressive pull for basic cable. TWD will be around whether it works creatively or not it seems. Good start with this episode, though.

Yes, I suppose the worry is the show grinding back down into the talky navel gazing stuff. But if there's a Story A and B as some have surmised with the prison/Woodbury scenes from upcoming eps, then you're talking about plot momentum missing last yr.

The first episode of last season seemed to blow a good portion of the zombie budget, followed by the endless farm arc. But it seems this year we're getting the prison/Woodbury stuff as two separate stories, which hopefully will keep things fresh and the action moving ahead.

I was wondering if this was their first sight of the prison, especially after last season's closing shot of the facility fairly close by. They'd be wandering the area for months without coming across this big building then? Was this explained?

TWD was in dire need of yada yada-ing. I'm all for it if we get more episodes like this. Carl and Carol especially benefited from the time jump.

The Van Alden plotline felt a bit contrived. Wasn't there a more organic way of getting him mobbed up? Van Alden was already frustrated by work and life in general, already a murderer not shy about doing underhanded shit. I was fairly sure he'd snap at work and that would be the impetus for going back to the mobster's

Yeah some of the gangster bits are telegraphed; Gyp busting the newsie's chops and of course Nucky's handling of Cantor. I loved the Eddie scenes, though, which surprised me.

Darabont does like him some melodrama and even w/ him gone the show talked itself into circles last yr. I just hope this episode was a start of some good weekly plot momentum w/o the endless ruminating.
