The key difference is that Babylon 5 didn't end seasons on cliffhangers where the only thing was the cliffhanger. The closest thing is Sheridan at the end of S3, of course, where we're unclear if he's alive or dead. But regardless of what happened there, we still got a resolution to his arc, a big reveal of the

sure, pal. sure.

OH DID YOU CALL?

I'm pretty sure her super sensate power is apologizing and looking sad to the people she gets killed.

I think you've gotten confused. This is a review, not a recap, and it's my first review of the show in four months. That means I'm going to talk about the show overall, and how this particular episode fits into that structure.

If you legit think that this series, of all series, can be separated from politics and the real world, I have no idea what to say to you.

No.

got Babylon 5 AND Mass Effect in there!

(I live in California so my vote doesn't count, but, y'know, I did it.)

yeah, you're talking to someone who swore he wouldn't vote for Obama in 2012 because his government murdered an American teenager for no apparent reason and never said why. If you want to judge my pre-2016 politics perhaps you should ask me what they ARE instead of just making things up?

Oh, I didn't tell you to be quiet and let everybody moan. I said that there are legit reasons to consider 2016 to be a disaster for humanity as a whole. You thought America did bad things before? Great, we've got a violent toddler in charge of the drones now. Recognizing that that's going to make things worse is not

Yeah, they said that at the time, but….they never actually said that the cluster's birthday was, like, a major thing in the first season. I'm not even certain they confirmed it was the same DAY.

Question, since I'm seeing a few other reviews now that don't mention this: did you recognize the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus during that scene?

This isn't super complicated. 2016 saw major electoral success for violent, nihilistic right-wing movements at the same time as global climate change accelerated. Everything bad that America did and still does? That's about to get much much worse, and the pressures of climate change are going to stress more and more

actually it was months after it debuted. Which was really weird for a Netflix show and had a bunch of fans increasingly uneasy.

also every single one of those fans is like a current or former AV Club commenter.

yep. Flick is Sam, Balinor is kingly Aragorn…it's REALLY direct.

I mean, they're all kinda Tolkein-inspired, but the first one literally has Allanon fall into a pit with a Skull Bearer in order to help his party escape.
