Boyhood is a very fine movie, but a lot of the raves about seem to be taking on a desperate tone. Sort of reminds me of those KEEP (YOUR CITY) WEIRD bumper stickers. "You better be weird, dammit!"
The main thing I took away from Haywire was, "Man, Gina Carano's never going to star in a movie anywhere near this good again."

I remember the Behind the Music episode that bemoaned how Heart sold their souls to corporate rock. It was like having Katy Perry lecture you on the evils of Autotune.
As much as I love XTC, I have a hard time seeing them ever turning into a slick hit-making machine. Cult eccentricity just seemed to come more naturally to them.
Liking stuff that ages poorly is one thing (we've all done it), but even back then, "What's Going On?" was total shit. I don't think I've ever known a single person who likes it.
PFP's debut was a bit flat, but Good God's Urge is a really underrated and interesting album and the live show I saw on that tour was a lot of fun. I'm still bummed that there was no third album.
