I really liked The Reader.
I really liked The Reader.
Tha wouldn't work for getting reddit-famous, though, because apparently that shit happens all the time.
It was in the percolator.
I agree, no doubt. But the failure of some people grappling with basic needs to appreciate this should tell us that as a society we need to do a better job of meeting their basic needs rather than just laughing at how dumb they are.
And she'll help us defeat the Borg.
IT's stupid, no doubt, but I think Shepard was using a metaphor to discuss an actual issues (cf. Maslow's needs pyramid) and people who think her stance is unjustified choose to pretend she was speaking literally.
Yeah, that's how it started. But now that studies have conclusively shown it's bullshit, the anti-vaxxers come up with all sorts of other arguments as well.
I think it was 28.
I like the movie, but as a baseball fan I'm aghast that they allowed them to film that stuff during the games.
If you make a summer soap named "Reckless" and you *don't* have the leads have sex on top of a car in a surface parking lot by the end of the second episode you are doing something deeply wrong.
Volchek.
Don't ever go to St. Croix.
I didn't think Alex was particularly sexist there — Jennifer mentioned her doll collection on the form as something to be asked about, and then she didn't have much to say about it. I wonder if the doll company she mentioned would turn out to be embarassing somehow if we knew more about it. I used to love reading FDO…
I certainly think that sniping is the sincerest expression of love. It occasionally gets me in trouble with friends who thing I'm really being mean when I make fun of their stupid haircuts and incoherent politics. But, you know, fuck 'em if they can't take a joke.
Yeah, I'd say the first one is worth the watch. It probably works better for people around the right age — that is, I bet most any 16 year old guy would like it, not that you had to be 17 in 1999. But I largely agree with Dowd's review. I do think that Biggs' character is unfairly rewarded for being a jerk, but…
Don't get them with cheese.
1.5-2, unless I happen to catch a few innings of the ballgame.
Yes, I think the caves were meant to be pretty far away. Not compared to the travels they'd later take, but far enough that it's a big deal to get there from the beach so that having "beach shifts" wasn't that feasible. But it wasn't ever as well established as it could have been.
Yeah, the booze is important there I think. Christian has this message to give to his son that would be a very good message for his son to hear, but it's too much hassle to frame it properly and deliver it with nuance because he's so dissipated by being on his second Scotch.
Yeah, when Jin hands her the flower at the airport I was shouting at her to just go, even though of course I knew she had gotten on the plane. And then compare that with how grateful she was in S3 (I think) when she has the ultrasound, even knowing the consequences.
