I spent most of my workday yesterday listening to the Big Star Sister Lovers sessions boxset. Further proof of just how great Jim Dickinson was to be able to punch up some seriously rough tracks into a brilliant record. And, man was Alex Chilton an underrated guitarist.

I was at home with access to alcohol. I may not have been paying all of the attention.

I'll check out Meet up. Thanks for the info!

I saw that movie and have no recollection whatsoever of it other than I didn't like it. That can't be what they were aiming for.

He's no Rick Grimes.

You don't want to have to listen to Mike Love after they run out of wedding cake.

I just checked and it looks like 18 minus the second Isn't It A Pity. Fewer than I thought but he could've padded those out with the better tracks from the later years and had a solid 3 or 4 high quality album run.

I enjoyed the hell out of Parker Lewis Can't Lose at the time but I'd imagine it does not hold up in the slightest. Herman's Head, on the other hand, was just plain bad.

Metamorpho had to settle for a bit part in the Rumble Fish tv show.

Fucking hipsters with their artisanal cheeses and paralyzing fear of clowns.

Goddammit, Opie, enunciate!

Save your money for next year when the 50th anniversary edition of Mrs. Brown, You've Got A Lovely Daughter comes out. Now there's a band who had staying power.

Revolver is my favorite. Sgt. Pepper might suffer a bit from Nevermind Syndrome where I've heard pretty much every track on it so many times that I can do another few decades without hearing them again. Revolver's stuff outside of Eleanor Rigby and Yellow Submarine isn't quite as done to death.

At least after Satanic Majesty, the Stones were smart enough to realize that trying to top the Beatles was stupid and that they should just be the tremendous rock and roll band that they were. The run of albums from Beggar's Banquet to Exile is as good as anything anyone has ever produced.

And I mean higher profile among the ex-Beatles. His profile was pretty high compared to the average rock star.

I sometimes wonder if Harrison would have a higher profile if he parceled out the songs from All Things Must Pass over several albums. It's an astonishingly great record but he kinda burnt out his backlog of great songs all in one shot.

Compared to the original cd's, the 09 remasters were like hearing the band for the first time. Who knew there was bass in Beatles songs???

I don't think they're plural anymore.

"Now we can play!"
"Like hell. More food!"

"It's called evil, kid!"
