Posting anonymously is not the problem… if you have character. But if you post in one thread using multiple names, trying to give an illusion of consensus, you have to take whatever insults come thrown your way.

"It seems to me that they're just acknowledging how powerful the Miramax company is in getting the top five. I wonder what this announcement was like for the Weinstein brothers."

I smell desperation — more gimmick than innovation.

It's not really "no discernible reason." If you read between the lines, it's always driven by the girl's pregnancy, and the unwanted consequences it would have created.

Consider the suffix -oid. The word "android" suggests that a factoid would be an artificial fact. But the word "meteoroid" suggests that a factoid would be a small fact.

Who should Nabin listen to when deciding if his heart is still in this project? Himself, or an anonymous unregistered guy who took the time to come up with two different usernames?

I believe this means he is contractually obliged to give us two years. Let's check the fine print.

So to sum up, George Strait won the night because he was up shows that were not worth watching, and the show he was up against was wonderfully entertaining.

Ringo had to be talked into doing his drum solo at the end of the Abbey Road album. He apparently doesn't like drums solos.

Ringo as a musician
Are you nuts? Ringo was a solid drummer, and his fills were always inventive. Listen again to "Ticket to Ride." That is arguably the Beatles' best single, and no one is more important on the track — not John who sang lead, not Paul who played both lead guitar and his usual bass.

Jerry Lee's version of "You Win Again" is great. As is Fats Domino's version.

The Roy Orbison also recorded a very good song for the soundtrack that did not make the soundtrack album: "So Young"

I agree that a Hank Williams entry could easily be worth two weeks. But we have to keep in mind that above all else Nabin wants to offer original insights, and Williams is one of the most discussed recording artists ever. There are not a lot of new insights left to uncover.

"The Smithsonian" is not a museum. It is a large collection of museums.

…played like reverse-engineered Mad magazine parodies
That is a great line.

You raise a good point. The quality of this site is growing. The features have much more depth and insight than they used to — to the point that some of the remaining shallow/gimmicky columns (e.g., The Hater) are looking much more out of place.

I've got a sure hit film in mind
OK, picture this. An action/adventure buddy-comedy. A father and son work through their differences as they fight off robot monster aliens to save the world. Charles Napier and Bruce Campbell star.

Very glad this was stretched to 3 pages. Editing it down would have been a shame.

"I thought human pheromones were supposed to be a myth."

I would pay money to see a Scorsese-directed Sinatra biopic.
