@crickinmyneck:disqus I've always loved the lyrics on More Songs, it sounds to me like Byrne is commenting on the nature of lyrics generally, even just looking at the song titles gives you a taster ("Warning Sign", "The Good Thing").

@roare Pretty much everything TVBTN doesn't take account can be put forward as to back an argument that Happy Endings is very much "on the bubble" rather than certain to be cancelled as they would suggest, and they'll never stop telling people they're deluded for thinking it has any chance. The syndication factor and…
The TVBTN comments section is full of trolls, fans of crappy shows and weirdo wannabe network execs.
Love the album so… nice one LiveNation.
So you turned to metal?
It's weird, RoF was criticized more than was fair because it was apparently a carbon copy of Is This It, something that seems way off base looking back at those two albums now; but now all anyone seems to want is Is This It mk. 2, these guys can't catch a break.
Yeah, but I find they're covering a different spectrum of "New Wave" on this than they did on, say, Two Kinds of Happiness or 12:51, more Duran Duran than The Cars.
You might want to try Room On Fire, which this album reminds me most of in feel and mood, if not necessarily in its influences (apart from the very Cars-ish 12:51).
As a huge Strokes fan ("NO WAY!", I hear you gasp), I was very pleasantly surprised by this album. I'd say it's definitely their best since Room On Fire, much more consistent than Angles and in 80's Disco/New Wave they seem to have found a sound that fits them at least nearly as well as 70's NYC Punk/Garage. It also…
Maccu Pichu would fit very well on Comedown Machine, but I don't see where any of the rest of it sounds particularly Angles-ish. Although honestly it's hard to find two reviews that are alike with this album.
Didn't you just come dangerously close to describing Vampire Weekend?
Which it wasn't, but yet now "more of the same" is all anyone actually seems to want. The press seem determined to make up for all the pre-Is This It hype by never giving them a break.
The people who hate Slow Animals are definitely wrong, that song is awesome.
I know this is waaaaaay late, but if you're ever interested in watching this ep again you'll also notice that Football doesn't hold his/her pinky out even when BMO does.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone call them "visionary" or "important". I love them because they make interesting, intelligent, catchy pop songs, and I have no idea why some AV Clubbers seem to find that model so offensive.
I think of him more as the closest thing this generation has to an in his prime MJ.
1. I've never seen a single person on here say that they dislike Girls because of Dunham's appearance. I've seen comments questioning the supposed realism of the show with her relationships and people saying the constant nudity is becoming a bit much, but it seems to me that this group of people has been pre-emptively…
However you would grade particular % scored, a 7.6 from Pitchfork definitely doesn't fall out of line with general critical acclaim. Anything above a 6.5 from them is generally pretty positive.
I'm just really confused as to how LCD Soundsystem aren't on that list with 3 releases in the decade all at 86.
