I would say Room on Fire is in pretty much every way the perfect follow up to Is This It, but ITI has a kind of special quality that isn't really measurable that ROF was never going to be able to recapture.

@avclub-d287ab72140b44071e69e6255b859cec:disqus I'd say the Arctics and the Libertines are Oasis but with the tunes to back themselves up. Oasis are really a pretty crappy band in terms of music, and I'd say that both bands mentioned really have very little to do with them other than the fact they're British and play…

Is This It is one of those albums that sounds like it just appeared out of nowhere, rather than actually having been made by people.

"Since I Left You" came out in 2000 also.

I'd say LCD Soundystem were the defining band of the last decade, for me at least.

The singles from the first Vines album are still eminently listenable, but the album as a whole isn't up to too much.

OMG it's "IS THIS it(?)" you tasteless waste of space!!! But seriously, "Is This It" is my favourite album of all time, not that I'm even in the NME-ish "It changed music!" camp, and it's probably not objectively the BEST album ever, it's just I can't think of any album I enjoy listening to more.

I dearly love TotBL, but I think my avatar pretty much shows which side of this debate I'm on.

If that doesn't happen I'll view my entire watching of this series as pointless.

You're point would hold more weight if it was correct. If you can't appreciate 30 Rock at it's most batshit insane, as it is now, I'm not sure how you got into it in the first place.
